NintenDOH desperately need to drop their prices in the eShop.
1 new example is ZenPinball.
In the eShop its got a price of $7.50
I just got it in the iPad for FREE.
Its also available on any iDevice for free.

Same as Lets Golf 3
In the eShop its $9.00
On the iDevice its FREE

So the 3DS is 3D. The iPad is 10x bigger and better screen. Even the iPhone 4 is a better screen and its also bigger.

Would you like a tiny 3D version or a bigger easier to see version?
More details go into the bigger version.
ITS FREE on iDevices.

If thats not a huge reason why NintenDOH need to drop their prices then I dont have a clue how they do business and keep making money.

Go compare just about all the games in the eShop to the same game in the Apple App Store and you will see the 3DS eShop is about 10x more for a 10x less quality game.

I keep saying the 3DS will be killed and it'll be NintenDOH that pulls the trigger.

Yes, compare the eStore to the App Store - then compare the actual retail games to the App Store. Those are what you buy a 3DS for. It's nice that I can buy Gameboy games and it's nice that I've got a bunch of NES games and I'll soon have a bunch of GBA games, too, but I didn't buy a 3DS for the eStore. Nintendo still have a ways to go with their downloadable video game services, but they'll get there eventually. While they do, I guess we'll just have to make do with what they sell at retail, no matter how much it pains us so. :creep:

1. Apple devices don't have buttons, 99% of all games NEED BUTTONS.
2. Apple devices cost more than twice as much as a 3DS.
3. The 3DS has already outsold the DS in it's first year.
4. Games consoles and phone/music players are two entirely different things, what works for one doesn't work for the other.
5. Nintendo doesn't have to compete with 99.9% crap on it's own system.
6. It seems that it's only Apple fanboys who complain about Apple vs 3DS download prices.

I have an iPod touch and a 3DS and play completely different types of games on both because I understand the differences. Some of you seem to not understand anything at all. You can't play ANY game on an iDevice that requires fast button response because you have no tactile buttons, you can't feel when you've pressed 'jump' for example, you can't rest your thumbs in place and press then when you need to, that's how the vast majority of games are designed. Virtual buttons don't work because when you try to press then quickly, you miss, not only that, they cover up the screen, you can't play video games with your hands covering up the screen.

Has the 3DS passed the sales mark of the original DS?

It just did this past Saturday—8 months—it has outsold the full 12 months of the original DS. During that 12 months time, the original DS sold 2.37 million and we just surpassed that this past Saturday, so we’ve got real good momentum going into the holidays
il guess it does print money

Well, the prices are a bit expensive, but I actually buy lots of games from the eshop (yeah, they're all dsi ware games but it gets the point across)... *Looks at list*
Zenonia, Dragon Quest Wars, Crystal Monsters, Aura-Aura Climber, Anonymous Notes 1, Fishing Resort (love this game xP), Legends of Exidia, Picdun, Fatal Blow, Pop Island - Paperfield, Elemental Masters... Some of these games were really cheap, while others not really, but none the less, the money was worth it in most cases... I've played Zenonia in an android phone before, but I hate the control schemes, that goes for pretty much every game you get on a 3DS that is a port from a smart phone... The control scheme is better, besides, I can't really get into a game on a phone, you may get a call, or something else, and I just find it annoying... I actually prefer paying for the games since it feels nicer to play on a console. =3

I dont have a clue how they do business and keep making money.
You said is yourself. You don't know about business. They make bucket-loads of money without your advice. You realize if they made the games free they wouldn't make any money off them at all, right? How does that help them in any way after they spent the money to convert the game to 3D? And that if they made it a bit cheaper its not like that would significantly increase sales. If you want it then you're going to buy it; if you don't then you won't.

Seriously, people need to stop saying "Nintendo needs to do _____ or they're gonna die!" You don't know about business. They do. You are in no place at all to say what they need to do and that if they don't they will fail. They know what they're doing, and if by some incredibly unlikely chance they do fail you can just laugh and say "haha I told you so!" I really don't get why people get so worked up over shit like this.

Also the iPad is 10 times bigger? do you know how to do maths lol. The iPad would be about 35 inches if it was 10 times bigger. now that would be difficult to carry around :P - I think the number you're looking for is closer to.. 3 times bigger. and thats only one screen we're talking about. with both its less than double the size. I love my iPad but i hate stupid information more

3DS's main attraction was never its online store anyway, its the actual proper games.

I actually agree here.

And yes, as people have said the 3DS and Ipad/Ipod are different devices altogether and some would deem them as not gaming devices 'because they don't have buttons' *derp derp derp* but buttons and 3 dimensional view is not a valid reason for Nintendo to overcharge their customers on things that can be bought for buttons on Ipad/Ipod or even PC (it has fucking buttons!). In fact they still charge a load just for DSi software/games...which (from the latter) look absolute wank.

This is the main reason I haven't bought a single thing through the Nintendo shop, sure some of the money goes to the creators of the software..but if they can get by getting 99p for it on other devices, then I'm sure there's something Nintendo can change, it's just arrogance greed really. Another thing that I don't agree with is the very shallow review system - based on stars/gender/hardcore and beginner gamers...yeah thanks for that great insight.

The only thing I plan to buy is Colors! 3D when it's finally released, and possibly push and pull, after watching the Bitblock's great review.

I agree to a degree that Nintendo does need to lower some of their prices. I mean Virtual console games for example. 2.99 plus tax for certain gameboy games that are so outdated graphic wise, usually really short, and sometimes not always worth the extra penny. Angry birds for example, highly addicting game, hours of gameplay, and only like what 99 to a 1.99 or something like that. The one gameboy color game they have up for sale, the zelda game is like what 5.99 plus tax. So it has color and its a Zelda game OMG, that's all the more reason for them to up the price a little.

If you ask me, i think Gameboy games should be around 99 cents - 1.99 AT MOST.
Gameboy color games from like 1.99 to 2.99
3d classic should be like 5$ seeing as how they are just NES games usually, with 3d effects (OMG they're all of a sudden awesome now so they should be overpriced)
and 3-d specific games could range from like 6-10$ at most.

I feel Nintendo thinks just because they're Nintendo games they should be priced at whatever they feel because they think they'll sell regardless the price just for being a Nintendo game. I on the other hand think they'd sell more with lower prices because I for one am a risk taker. I'll throw away 1$ to have the possibility that i might be buying a top notch game, while on the other hand as the price goes up it gets riskier because
A. I may not like the game so therefore would have just wasted my money. AND
B. There could have been some other awesome game i would have loved to buy instead but just wasted money on something crappy.

That's my rant at least, i don't expect everyone to agree, it's just my opinion.

to play it on my ipad witch is not really a gaming device or to play on my gaming device the 3DS i wonder
Actually the iPad can be considered a gaming device just as much as a PC can be considered a gaming device. Also the PS3 can be considered a multimedia device just as much as the AppleTV can be considered a multimedia device. It all depends on how you define an item. For example would the PSP be considered a portable video device if it can display movies? If not then why? It's not just about what the original idea or use of an item was, it's how it's used. (just for comparison I actually don't know what the original idea of the iPad was, but it's quite profitable for Apple).

To be honest I think his sentiment is actually very valid but his expression of it rather poor.
+1. The point is valid, but the output is horrible..
Seriously, people need to stop saying "Nintendo needs to do _____ or they're gonna die!" You don't know about business. They do.
Giving games for free isn't that an unheard of concept. Look at Valve and how TF2 became free to play on Steam. You think that wasn't a carefully planned out move? You really think that it was given for free just for the fun of it? Definitely not. Considering the situation Nintendo is in right now, I could imagine someone who already hasn't bought a 3DS to buy one if there was free content available. More consoles = more possible customers for other games. Not that unheard of. Probably a part of Economics 101 if anyone is interest :)

ps. Comparing iDevice pricing to anything else has lead to people thinking that 1$ for a game is a normal price. That isn't the case, but charging outrageous prices for a decade old tech is a bit too much tough. In my opinion.

I believe this is one of those topics where both sides can be right. Firstly, iDevices can be and ARE gaming devices; just not dedicated ones. I have played/tried LOADS of iGames (several dozen, all to try out, not for some job like reviewing them) and have less than five that I feel were/are worthwhile purchases. My two games that I go back to are Defender Chronicles (a tower-defense game with about 12 different levels and four modes of play that I got for $1.99) and Zombieville (a side-scrolling cute zombie-shooter with over half-a-dozen different playable characters and upgradeable weapons): these two games are FULL LENGTH, FULL-FEATURED games that have received more FREE CONTENT with updates over time. If Nintendo would release ONE first party/in house game like this PER YEAR the store would be 1000% percent. As it stands, nothing in the eStore is close to this level of content.

HOWEVER, Nintendo doesn't have to do this because they make 99.9% of their money through their full featured games for all their core IPs (Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Metroid, Starfox, etc). Every penny they make off their pitiful offerings is just free money and since they don't have to do anything, I can understand why they don't.

HOWEVER (again), Nintendo making a more robust eShop with better prices and deeper content WILL turn heads and make more people buy the 3DS (more money in Nintendo's pocket), create a bigger install base for more developers to want to create amazing/Triple-A titles (more money in Nintendo's pocket), and even if the money they take in is at a slower INITIAL pace (from lower prices) will have much greater long-term income (more money in Nintendo's pocket).

Just my $0.27

I can buy an over-priced device that will go obsolete in a month and get a small title for free...

Or I can get a reasonably priced handheld with 3D that will probably be supported by the manufacturer for a little less than a decade and pay for the same game.

I wonder what I will do...

I can play Ocarina of Time just fine on N64oid.
However, Super Mario 64 is kinda hard to control since the Z button is in the top-right of the screen.

Anyone who says that a game cannot be played well without buttons is kinda wrong.
Sure, there are games that will be unplayable without buttons.
However, I have a certain amount of games on the different emulators for Android and they play well.

But playing, for example, Pokémon Red on Lameboy will always be better than playing it on GBCoid.
Mostly because the DS is a Nintendo device and playing a GB game on the Nintendo device feels "right"
