Maybe a crystal ball question, but any thoughts on with new games coming out, would more games be using CIV checks, etc.., therefore the need to burn 100% and therefore is a iHas drive a wise investment over truncating? And the need for this when comparing online and strictly offline playing.

Yes more games will come out with CIV checks.
iHAS drive is a wise choice since you're kind of forced on burning them with an iHAS if the games contain CIV checks + you finally have a quality burner.

Provided that you patch your backups and be 100% sure that ABGX gives it all green then its safe to play on Live.
There still is a chance of being banned (as always)

Yes, iHas is basicly a requirement for all XGD3-Games, imo.

Though, with all these recent events, I'm not shure if it's even clever to stick with discs anymore. The XKey-Team had the problem solved before c4eva did (which simply stole their method), and LT 3.0 is still nowhere in sight. Not to mention that you don't need to (re)burn games with an ODE. I'm still waiting, but I think I won't go back to CFW. That's only my opinion, though, decide for yourself.

CFW's are more Live safe then ODDE's (if you have correctly patched backups etc)

I'd rather stick with the traditional methods of constandly flashing firmwares then risk my ass on a ODDE.

Indeed.

Noobs will fall for the banhammer, Knowledged people will manage to avoid it.

And in 10 years there will be no more XBLive for the 360 rendering all banned or not banned 360's equally useful as a old Xbox now.

I don't play on live much anymore and have recently cancelled my subscription. I've never been flaged because I try real hard to keep up with current events going on in the scene.

I occasionally buy a Gold subscription.
But I do have my 360 hooked up to Live at all times.
Never gotten flagged either, always patched everything and double checked everything.
Never updated to a newer dash with older iXtreme firmwares.

from LT+ on always flashed back to stock and then did the update.
Got my DVD keys saved on 2 or 3 locations ;p

I'd rather stick with the traditional methods of constantly flashing firmwares then risk my ass on a ODDE.

You can still run your ISOs through ABGX, and still boot them off a ODDE. I still prefer a ODDE over discs, takes me forever to burn one. (Burner sometimes likes to act up.) While, I could just drag and drop the ISO onto my HDD, run it through AGBX, and load it.

ODDE's are drive friendly and DVD friendly (mayby wallet friendly later on) indeed.

If I can obtain one for a few bucks I'd considder it installing it once.

I think ode's are nice for people with out a jtag or a rgh 360 but if you have one of them there is no point. Just my opinion. I do most of my playing on a jtag and I prefer to burn a disc for archival purposes. It only takes me about 20-25 mins to abgx check and then burn. To each his own I guess.

Then ODDE's should be for the new Corona revisions.

Every 360 can be hardware hacked. (except Xenon but i hardly think anyone is playing on one now)

I'd rather play on a RGH or jTAG.

I got myself an Asus 243BLT from newegg and crossflashed to to the liteon ihas624b. Reason I went for the Asus is that unlike the lite-on drive, there's no risk of getting an "A" revision or an NEC chipset. Of course my 360 recently failed an AP25 check and the x-value changed. I don't know if a single AP25 fail would get me banned (I've heard of legit consoles failing AP25 checks), but I've been toying with the idea of buying a spare 360 anyway. So I may as well buy a new slim and RGH this one.

All that said I don't regret purchasing the drive. It was only $28 after shipping, and my old DVD burner (Pioneer 112L - bought it before it became popular on the 360 scene :P) seems to be getting ready to fail (occasionally doesn't recognize discs)

That's not completely correct.

As said before, you risk your bum with both methods. Fact is that iXtreme LT caused some flags/bans with the latest CIV/AP2.5-Checks, eventhough the rips/dumps were alright (but the burns/firmware wasn't). Fact is also that until now, nobody got banned by using an XKey online (though c4eva claims so, but it's a competition between him and the ODEs, so I don't take his words that seriously on this topic and no other bans were reported). Fact is also that an XKey could emulate the FW closer than iXtreme LT ever will be able to (see here). Right now, we don't know if they are already doing this, but I'm only talking about numbers here. Not to mention that the recent "silver bullet" for AP2.5 which the "great" c4eva found was simply stolen from the XKey-Team. And while they have the update already out, LT+-Users are left waiting for weeks/months.

So basicly all I'm saying is that both could/will lead to a ban, and that the CFW isn't necessarily safer than an ODE. You can't say that right now, as the ODEs are new and fresh on the market, so we can't compare it to the CFW which has been here for years. I get the idea that you want to stick to the method that worked until now, but speaking for me, I see all the benefits of an ODE, so I'll wait until christmas/the dash update, and then I'll gamble a bit and buy one. It's cheaper than having to send my Xbox in after every CFW-Update, and probably more future-proof.

The lite-ons on newegg are revision b's and they don't have nec chipsets. I know I bought 2 of the base line models from there. Sucks you got flagged btw.

I don't see how it's really a competion between them. He provides a cfw for free and the ode makers sell hardware for money. How can a company compete against something that is basically given away? The only thing ode's provide over the cfw is loading form a hard drive wether its your pc's or usb. Thats why they sell.

Luck has it that I can flash my own 360 so I don't have to worry about sending it in every time.
I can imagine having a ODDE being much better for novice users/Corona users.

ODDE's are quite new indeed.I never owned one but everywhere I go I hear those aren't Live safe .
Maybe it will be better soon due to more testing etc.
But I already see MS implementing some update that checks data lines on the DVD and finds the ODDE.

Safest and best solution is to have either a jTAG/RGH 360 and a legit one, or just not backupping games at all.

So now c4eva are stealing stuff from XKey?
Source of that please...

And also, c4eva said that he WONT release LT+ 3.0 until after the dashboard update is out, and it´s released 2011-12-06 (You know, in like 5 days)

Are they? I saw a few reviews (especially on the 424 drive) mentioning that they got NEC chipsets, so I wanted to be sure. They're all basically the same price anyway, so it's not really a big deal. Crossflashing is really easy with the current tools anyway

As for the whole live thing... yea it kinda sucks, but I don't really use it anyway. At least I should be able to play games that do CIV checks now
