I know a lot of us are still fans of buying used games still, right? Well, I'm sure you don't want to play someone else's save game when you buy it, so here is a list of 3DS games to avoid! These games contain a permanent save file. They cannot be erased, and you can't create a new game or "start over". Don't buy these games used. Better yet, don't buy them at all. It only encourages this practice if they see sales from it.

Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D
Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions To reset the save data, press and hold A,B,X,Y,L and R upon bootup of the game.
Super Monkey Ball 3D
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II
Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D

If there are any new games that use this "feature", or ones that I left out, feel free to post it, and I'll keep the thread updated. Also if there are any "secret" methods to erase the data on a cart such as a button combo (anything that doesn't require seperate hardware) post that here too :)

Thread updated 11/28/11

In fact the save of those games CAN be erased, but you need a tool like the nds adapter or the sms doctor to replace the save file by a blank one (or at least a corrupted one, then the 3DS will erase the file for you).

Anyway thanks for the list, might be useful, especially to avoid game editor who wants to kill the used game market.

Unfortunately, it is true. I have at least contacted Sega about Super Monkey Ball 3D because I couldn't find an answer online, and they said that the saves cannot be erased.

OoT 3D.
why? because you cant remove master quest if you beat the normal game.

If you hold A and B right after you start booting the game, you will have the option to delete ALL of the save files.
I think Harvest Moon : The Tale of Two Towns 3D can't erase save file. It will just overwrite the old save slot.
Eh, this thread is more about games that you can't at least "start over". That's what you mean, right? You can just create a new game to save in the old slot?

Edit: I have removed Street Fighter IV since it's pretty damn easy to reset the save data.
