Hacking wbfs formatted drive not recognized on pc but works on wii

I have had my softmoded wii(4.2) packed up for over a year due to moving. I finally settled down now and hooked it up today. It still works great USBLoader still see all 24 games I have on my wd passport. I had all the old programs I used on an older computer I now longer have. I decided I wanted a new game today and downloaded WBFS manager and ncWBFStool. I couldn't get neither of them to pick up my drive. The drive works just fine on my wii. I also decided to try it out on my linux server with a wbfs manager and had no luck. I am stumped on this. I would love to get this resolved without having to reformat the drive. I have tried all the usb port on my 2 machines.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

If it doesn't work, just back up your games with Wii Backup Manager (which you should use after this for game management), format it as FAT32, then restore your games.

I tried both programs and neither one would pickup the drive. Looks like I am going to have to lose all my games and start over. Ugh Sucks!
It shows up in disk management on windows and disk utility in linux. I feel like ive hit a dead end road.

So I can leave it in fat32 and the wii is able to see Fat32? I thought it had to be in WBFS format?

Yeah, stick with FAT32. WBFS hasn't been used for a long time.

Btw, ignore junkerde. He just goes from thread to thread insulting people and/or disagreeing with people just to cause confusion. I don't understand why the staff lets him stay here since he only causes trouble.

With fat32 the hdd will be recognized as any other hdd on a PC as well, so you can read/write to it like any other HDD.
This means you can use it for other purposes than just the Wii, if you want. You are not limited to Wii only.
Its also easier to recover lost files due to the massive amount of tools available for fat32.

You could try wiimm's wbfs tools
they can repair damaged wbfs partitions

In the Wii Backup Manager settings, under Drives/DVD, untick the "Use mounted drives only" option. The drive should show up in WBM then.

Also, using Disk management, you can assign a drive letter and it'll show in Windows with the annoying "You need to format blah blah" message, but it should then show up in all the apps you've tried.
