Please help. I accidentally bought this thinking it was the 3DS one. I read somewhere here that there is a patch for it to make it play on the 3DS. Would someone please tell me, if true, how to apply this patch? Thank you

First, we have to know which r4i Gold it is. We can nail it down if you can provide information on the website written on the sticker of the flashcart or on the box of the flashcart.

He hasn't made it clear whether he has the regular version (the one that can't be updated) or the PLUS one (the one that, supposedly, can update).

So actually, your cart seems to have the capability to update to support 3ds v2.1 and dsi v1.4.3. The files are .nds format, meaning that you will have to have a system (preferably a ds phat or lite, since those can't block flashcarts). Download one of the two updates, depending on the system you are using to update your flashcart: use (1) on the pic below if you're using a ds phat or lite to update; use (2) on the pic below if you're using a dsi or 3ds to update. Place the file inside the micro sd card, and boot the updater (which is a .nds file) just like any other game. Do as prompted and wait until the process finishes.

Wow thanks. How risky is it that the 3DS will block the flashcart though? Since I don't have a lite or phat on me right now. I can easily get one from a friend though. I'm just wondering

The 3DS detects the cart but when I try to load it, but it gives me an error has occurred message. Any fix for this?
1) you haven't updated (yet)
2) your cart doesn't support that 3ds firmware, thus it can't run on your 3ds
3) you have to run a file using on your flashcart to update, but you can't run your cart on the 3ds you have
So yeah, you'll need your friend (mentioned before) to lend you a ds phat/lite and then update your cart on your friend's system. After doing so, you'll be able to use your flashcart on your 3ds.

I'm having a similar problem except my DSLite won't run it either when I put the cart in there. Am I completely screwed? -_-

So I tried putting in the R4i Gold V2.0 Card I have in my friends DS Lite and I came upon another problem. The cart shows as a game, but when I select it, it says loading and then brings up a white screen that doesn't go away. Any fix or help for this?
Maybe you're not using the correct firmware? Download this (from the official site) and place the files into the micro sd card, as well as the updater for your cart.
So I would think all of these files would go on the root of my microsd. Which folder(s) should the updater be in?
