it's amazing to see just how simple it looks in an editor but can't rpgmaker pretty much do all this anyway?
Yes, but this is for making Secret of Mana ROM hacks. Like AdvanceMap with Pokemon.

Why would you even use RPG Maker? You'd have to recreate an entire gameplay engine.

Secret of Evermore isn't sequel to Secret of Mana. It's more of a spinoff :)
Evermore has a great soundtrack by Jeremy Soule but very different from Mana series soundtracks. Obviously I favourize Yoko Shimomura, Kenji Itou & Hiroki Kikuta above Jeremy Soule, but he still doesn't make bad music, just different.

Also, great work! I maybe will snatch some ideas from this for my own editor (not for Mana) :P

I love when these big announcements come out for romhacking... sadly, it seems a lot of the interest in the older games have died as newer generations came in. Super Mario RPG has an extensive editor, but no audience to use it... hopefully this doesn't happen with Secret of Mana :(

That tool is just awesome. I mean, sure. Atm you can't do that much, but when newer versions come out... Secret of Mana hacks anybody?

i know seiken densetsu 3 is mana II but the battle system in it is crappy IMO not as great as mana.
I still wonder how people mistake Seiken Densetsu 3 as "Secret of Mana 2"... What about Seiken Densetsu (1)? Is it Secret of Mana 0 then? Or the other Mana games - is Children of Mana = Secret of Mana 5?
Ah, well. Besides the logical "Seiken Densetsu 4" (Legend of Mana), there's an "actual" Seiken Densetsu 4 (Dawn of Mana), so I guess nothing makes sense when it comes to numbering the games.

€dit: new version! :)
