This was posted recently on their Facebook wall.

The official Nintendo Magazine of UK gives CoD:MW3:D a 70%. Apparently we get marked down for “not being ready to take the step up to 3DS yet.” I’m always amazed by how poorly game journalists understand the industry they work in.

Oh, and Kotaku can suck it.
Here's two links to the articles in question,

But yeah, Kotaku can suck it.

Bursting your angsty gaming bubble here: Kotaku did not review the game. The journalists simply pointed out their gut feelings on this game based on available trailers/footage/previous games to make an opinion.

And frankly, not supporting more consoles with a franchise as big as Call of Duty is like saying they want to make less money, practically shooting their capital in the foot.

It's also pretty likely that Nintendo Magazine pointed this out because they want to hint at Activision that a good (and I use "good" very sparingly here for that game, with my prior experiences with the franchise) Call of Duty game can be made on a portable platform. Not exactly an ordinary challenge, but a dare as good as any other.

The publicity they get from making the game is free, after all. Journalism is not their extended advertising arm that works for them everytime, all the time. They should certainly not rely on them if their as good as they try to come off on that Facebook post.

CONCLUSION:

It's fan service, guys, butthurtness over a "mere" 70% review. Whatever happened to 75% reviews getting GOTY? Silly modern reviewing standards....

Journalists are people, too, you know. They have that thing called an entitlement to opinion: it's quite universal. Unlike Activision's flagship products.

First of all, ONM is complaining in the review because of the lack of a 3DS version (which couldn't have happened). I'm pretty sure n-Space doesn't choose which platform they develop COD for, Activision does. They're forced to work around limitations of whatever platform they're given, which in this case is the DS..

I find it terribly humorous that Kotaku said this in the article, "I've not played Modern Warfare 3: Defiance for the Nintendo DS, and I don't need to.". They complain about a game they haven't played. They then complain as to why it wasn't on the 3DS when that isn't n-Space's decision.

They didn't complain that the game got a 70% score. More-so the fact that it got a lower score because it wasn't released on the 3DS which wasn't their decision to begin with. And I agree with them, Kotaku can suck it. They're bitching about a game they haven't played and complaining about the graphics of the game when n-Space is forced to work around the platform's limitations. That's typical Kotaku-crap right there.

And no one said that Kotaku reviewed the game. Don't know where you got that from.

Oh, awesome. "We're butthurt because we did exactly what those reviewers said - re-fried an old engine, added a few new models, a few new maps and called it a new game without implementing any ground-breaking changes. But they can suck it, it's a CoD, it will sell anyways trolololo".

God, do I hate N-Space. MW2 was cool, GoldenEye was cool, but everything else really feels like "the exact same game".

It is Activision's buisness to port their big titles to the latest console, it's their buisness to aim at perfection. The 3DS has nearly the same "capabilities" as a Wii, don't tell me they "weren't able to port it" because it's pure bull.

Is it really this hard to understand the concept behind the Gut Check? It's the thought process we all go through when we see trailers etc. for a new game. Don't deny it, you were all thinking, 'why couldn't this have been a 3DS game?' That's the idea behind it. It's not a review, more a reaction to available media.

Yeppers. Kotaku saw the screenshots, saw the trailers, saw the exact COD they've been playing for years and years, weren't impressed and said "Hey, y'know what? I already have that game, ain't gonna buy another copy", that's all there is to it.

Finally, someone can see what the game really is. The guy had the guts to see pass this shooter hype and fanboys. As much as I like COD(one of my favs series), it is the same thing over again and adds nothing new to the table. Anyone complaining and reacting to the score is a fanboy(in the bad sense).

Seriously tho, I'm not sure what to say other than "I find this kinda amusing."

You're missing the point. They're complaining because ONM was lamenting the fact that there wasn't a 3DS version when they couldn't have done one to begin with. That was out of their control. If there is anyone to blame, it's Activision. Certainly not n-Space.

There's only so much you can do with the DS. Creating an entire new engine for a system as limited as the DS would be a pointless task and frankly, probably won't net much improvement. And seeing as you obviously haven't played the game, they radically changed the controls, user-interface and added some decent environment effects. While this certainly doesn't make the game exceptional, it is decent by DS standards.

It seems to be that most of your complaints have more to do with decisions made by Activision. I don't know why you're lashing out at n-Space.

I'm sorry... but when has n-space made a decent game? ._ .
CoD4 was pretty good, but that's it. It was the exact same engine with some different models for the newer ones. Even in the CoD6 game files, there were still some CoD5 left over, as if they just took the game and dumped crap in there, not bothering to do remove them. The only major improvement I've seen was the ability to change your look controls to 'ABXY' instead of the touch screen. :/

There's a difference between making an entirely new engine and improving the one you're using now. There really hasn't been much changes to it - it works and looks relatively the same.

I'm lashing out at Activision more than I am at N-Space. If a 3DS version got a green light, we'd probably see something more similar to the Wii version, seeing that the systems have similar horsepower, but, but, but! Would N-Space be capable enought to pull it off? I don't think so. I actually don't think there's alot of coding going on there anymore - most of their games look very much the same, and that should not be the case.

Counter Strike, Half Life, Quake II and Soldiers of Fortune run on modified versions of the same engine. Do you feel the aura of sameness? No, because there were changes implemented in each of'em. The case should be the same with N-Space.

I sense "CoD is a shitty repetitive game" arguments coming on...Mods better watch the thread..

Did anyone actually read the ONM review? At the extreme end did they put
It's just a shame n-Space wasn't ready to make the step up to the 3DS yet because the added power could have made this one truly special.
How the hell could you even claim the 70% was due even remotely to the fact they didn't put it on the 3DS?? That makes no sense, that's just trying to blame Nintendo for something they mentioned extremely briefly at the end of the review.

It seems more like they're blaming Nintendo for what Kotaku said, which quite frankly is the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life. Kotaku can suck it though.

For one thing, they've made the Gamecube game Geist. Decent game, from what I've heard.
That's all( worth noting) I can think of though...

I, however, am with N-Space on this one. I'm not gonna say the game was actually great, but to lose points just because it wasn't on the newest console is a bit petty.

The full cod got 8/10 in reviews I've read, so 7/10 is a pretty good score handheld.

Sadly, the gaming community is full of dicks who consider 7/10 to be a disaster.

It was the most terrible idea to make it for the DS but not the 3DS.
The 3DS version could of been as good as the Wii version, which was almost as good as the PS3/360 version.
But instead we got a DS version, which not only has lower capabilities but is also guaranteed to get pirated.
