There is this third shield that is close enough to the Hylian shield. I just got it. I'm pretty sure that through upgrading it you can get the Hylian shield (or equivalent, I don't think it's called Hylian).

Wooden Shield (level 1)
This is the first shield you obtain in Skyward Sword. It's pathetically weak, and will break in just a few hits in its un-upgraded form. The Wooden Shield can be purchased for a very low price in the Skyloft Bazaar
Banded Shield (level 2)
Much more durable than the wooden shield, but still very weak. Burns from fire.
Braced shield (Level 3)
Much more durable than the banded shield, though still unfortunately wooden and can can burn.
Iron Shield (Level 1)
Much more durable than that of previous shields, but still not terribly strong. However, because this shield is made entirely of iron, it won't burn when touched by fire.
Reinforced Shield (level 2)
this is much more durable and can take an average beating.
Fortified Shield (level 3)
this takes a much higher amount of damage than the Reinforced Shield before it breaks.
Sacred Shield (Level 1)
This shield type is the strongest and can gradually repair itself. If it runs out of durability before it can recharge though, it will still break
Devine Shield (Level 2)
This shield has a higher durability than that of the sacred shield and takes an insane beating. It shares the ability to repair itself with its former version
Goddess Shield (Level 3)
This shield is the most durable form of sacred shield.
Hylian Shield (Level 4)
This is the last shield in the game and is completely indestructible. Unlike previous shields in Skyward Sword, this one's durability meter will never decrease no matter how much it's used.

I must confess I have missed this. However, I got a little confused when you say "thunder dragon".
Which area is he hiding in? Ive done all 3 flames but cant recall any thunder dragon...
He is quite far into the game. Trust me you will know when you see him. I was kind of disappointing at the point in the game at which you get the hylian shield. I basically played this game without a shield holding out for the hylian one, and ended up not getting it untill after i beat the game. (you can get it before you beat the game, i just didn't notice until after)

Hey In that one desert land where the goron is is chipping at a rock I played the harp woke up one of those rocky jerks. The thing mentioned a dragon that would hook me up if I helped it out. Is it possible to get the shield after I just got the the blue power in my sword?
This is how you get the Hylian Shield
You must revive the Thunder Dragon and heal him from his illness. This is after ALL the flames, you'll know when you get to him. You do not get to him by a side quest, you meet him by the main quest so you won't miss him. You then need to do a boss challenge that he gives you, you need to defeat all the previous bosses you fought without breaks, once you do, you can obtain the Hylian Shield.
What's the difference between the Master Sword and the Skyward Sword in the game? Is it just the appearance or does it have a power boost or a special attack (like the Skyward strike)?
The true master sword also have insane range of skyward strike, and do truckload of damage (the skyward strike)
It oneshots mobs (with skyward strike) that required at least 2 real hits with any other sword.
