We knew that Modern Warfare 3 was expected but never imagined that it would go up a robbery! The site of TF1 tells us indeed that a attack occurred yesterday morning on a van in the area of Créteil. On board this: video games for a value estimated at around 400,000 euros. According to Ultimate PS3, it would be copies of Modern Warfare 3 for different supply chains. After a collision between vehicles commonplace, the bad guys have neutralized employees with tear gas before fleeing with the minivan and their loot.

Actually kinda genius. Video games, especially new ones, are really easy to carry a lot of and cost a lot. Considering how much pre-release copies of MW3 have sold for, stealing 6,000 of them should net the robbers a hefty sum.

Not that it's a good thing at all, but I'm surprised no one has stolen video games as much. I mean low security, high profit, easy loot.

Thefts like these may change that...

I thought that I was reading this wrong when I first seen it. I know that computer games go for a lot especially ones like Modern Warfare 3 but isn't this a little overboard with everything.

As overboard as it sounds, Guild has a point. The amount that pre release copies are going for this game, would have given them a pretty good amount of money. And it's probably easy to steal them I suspect, so it wouldn't be that hard to hijack a vehicle that's transferring them.

Well, good luck to them actually selling 6000 copies without rousing suspicion.

Hell, even just selling them brand new at like $50, $40 will net them a lot. Call of Duty takes forever to go down in price. Black Ops is still $60 on Steam and it came out a year ago for crying out loud. And Steam prices usually drop rather quickly. Black Ops new on Amazon is still roughly $50. It's ridiculous.

For comparison, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, which came out last year in the same month as BlOps, is still quite popular, and is a third party game available on the same consoles as the comparison prices (Steam and Xbox 360 version), is $40 on Steam and roughly $25 on the 360 on Amazon, both brand new obviously.

Well, good luck to them actually selling 6000 copies without rousing suspicion.

Spread them across craigslist with multiple people, sell them online on multiple sites, sell them at flea markets, even trade them in. It'll take a lot of work but if they do it right they can sell them easily without rousing suspicion. Unless they go on Ebay and advertise selling thousands of copies of MW3, it won't be noticed I guess, unless they're somehow able to track the copies sold to that store to other people.

I'd imagine that if they were planning to steal 6000 copies they at least have a plan as to how they're going to sell them, unless they didn't think that far through :P.

Though you have a point, how will they sell that many copies?

I suspect they'll sit on these for a couple of weeks till after release then sell them as by then millions of copies would have been sold and it would be impossible to track down the stolen ones
