I hacked a sav file (NO$Zoomer) and dsv file (DeSmuME) to have ALL the weekly wifi puzzles in these two emulators, I guess that also applies to NDS console. The puzzles aren´t downloaded from the internet, because that brings with the game and what it does is activate them when we conect to the Nintendo Server.

Don´t forget back up your save before overwriting.

Update November 9, 2011

I found which will be officially the weekly puzzles, will be 33. I have also seen the order in which Nintendo released. The differences with the previous save are few, but I have modified to coincide with Nintendo. I put the 33 officers puzzles top of the list, followed by two puzzles (34 and 35) that I found and I do not belong to the adventure: Cluttered Bag (weekly puzzle that was a JAP version) and Garden tidying. I looked at the puzzle one by one and can not find it, if someone locates these puzzles in the adventure that will let me know and I'll modify.

Option 1. Hacked Save File:

Option 2. Action Replay Codes:

These are the equivalent AR Codes, you do not always turn on, only once and cause a saved console/emulator and you will be saved in your save file:

Nice. I tried this back when no puzzles were available for download yet, but couldn't figure out how to hack open the menu. How'd you do it?

I have experience with other Layton games series. I hacked Layton 1, 2 and 3 with the same procedure but with some differences and posted my work on Spanish forums.

Open the menu is not difficult, the game reads a memory address that if the value is 0 there isn´t wifi puzzles and therefore there is no open menu. Do you know the format of save file?

The hardest part is to make the console (or emulator) to accept the save as the checksum prevents unauthorized modification.

Greetings.

I figured it would work like that. I was trying to find this value in RAM by tracking down the routine that puts the menu button graphics in VRAM, but that didn't get me anywhere.

Mind sharing where the checksum and Weekly Puzzle data is located in the SAV?

I work directly in memory at run-time emulator, not on file. The data that are looking after the word "LAYTONMAJIN" is that you have to search but in his second appearance. The memory address is dynamic and is not always the same. In Layton 3 I found the pointer to the memory copying data from the file and always know where the data position.

ok let me get this straight.... you are saying the file you have provided will unlock all the downloadable puzzles because they are already stored within the game?

and will it affect my sav file i already have?

Exact, before replacing make a copy of your save so you can return it.

Thanks for the save file!
I remember there being an AR code for Unwound Future that would unlock every weekly puzzle.
Is there any chance that an AR code could be made for this one as well? And maybe Diabolical Box?

Yes, it is possible, I did it before starting the save. But it seems more "clean" this method.

You can also create new save slots and keep all the weekly puzzles, even overwriting mine. Try it.

I've made this into a proper AR code that hooks the game's routines to copy all the data for the 36 Weekly Puzzles (I used the data from the save file, extracted from the RAM) and fix the checksum. It should unlock the Weekly Puzzles as soon as you load your save file. Then after you save the game, you can turn off the cheat and the puzzles will stay unlocked.

I haven´t much experience with AR codes but I tried yours code with NO$GBA 2.6a and sometimes works, only if you apply before loading the saved game. I have also tested in Desmume and does not work. These are the AR codes I made before creating the save. Always work, in NO$GBA and Desmume whether the game is loaded or not, and if we are on the menu screen wifi puzzles, we out and in again and we will see active. For save the weekly puzzles into the save file just have to cause a save, for example in the list of weekly puzzles select another puzzle (no need to enter in it or resolve, select only) and out of the weekly puzzles section.

These are my codes AR:

From my experience, DeSmuME is very unreliable when it comes to cheat codes. I would test it but I can't seem to get it to load my save file nor am I able to make it load a new save file I created (it says data is corrupt each time it starts up) on both DeSmuME SVN and 0.9.7. On the other hand, AKAIO's AR cheat support is top-notch and about as good as it gets. I've been making ARDS cheats for over 2 years and I can assure you my code is correct.

And yes, it only works if you activate the code before loading the save file, but it's generally not recommended to enable/disable cheats in the middle of the game.

I tried Prof 9's code and it works for EDGE. This maybe OT but could someone post the same code for the Unwound Future (US), the one in the cheats db doesn't work. Thanks!

Very old thread, but I need help @RADEON75. Do you have an Action Replay for Curious Village? Or know a way to edit the memory to have them in my game? I already have a completed 100% savefile, and I'd like to have the weekly puzzles there. Thanks to flashcards I can play the game on emulator or on my DS, if that matters. I'd appreciate any kind of help
