The Video Game Awards, an annual awards show on Spike, will be debuting a new Alan Wake title and a new game by BioWare.

Alan Wake, a Xbox 360 exclusive released May of last year, received widespread praise for its classic horror references and winding plot. However, sales for the title have been relatively low, while illegal downloads of it have been particularly high.

BioWare, best known for their RPGs, is set to release Mass Effect 3 in March. They are also known for some of the largest western RPGs, including Baldur's Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age, and of course, Mass Effect.

Alongside these two announcements, Metal Gear Solid: Rising will be officially revealed. The title was revealed at E3 in 2009 and features Metal Gear Solid 2 protagonist Raiden, and serves as a prequel to him before Metal Gear Solid 4. Gameplay has been revealed, but the title has almost disappeared since its 2009 reveal.

The VGAs can be caught on Spike TV on Saturday, December 10th, at 8pm EST.

lol MGS rising re-reveal.

not vaporware anymore

Ah, I remember the good old days where it was supposed to come out at like this time of the year. I was so waiting to jump on it and buy it.

I'm hoping they'll just be giving us an early 2012 release date. Anything seriously later and its vaporware to me.

And a new Bioware game sounds sweet as well. Now if only the VGAs were any good, or at least watchable (I'm looking at you, whoever booked Dane Cook and My Chemical Romance).

Edit:

And who knows, the Alan Wake game could have changed since the last round of rumors. But hey, even if it is, so what. I'm happy to get my Alan Wake fix any way I can.

Yay to a new Alan Wake - I do worry it'll turn out to be a crappy casual game or something awful like that. But I remain hopeful - such a game wouldn't receive such a fan fair.

Now if only Remedy would get their ass out of Microsoft's rear and make the game multi-platform, I'll go shake the teams hands when they come by my workplace. Alan Wake would have sold a lot better if it wasn't just for Xbox 360. Also I'm not going to buy an Xbox 360 just for Alan Wake (even though I'm pretty tempted)...

ps. I've already talked about it with a few people from the company, but they told me that apparently Microsoft just can pay enough money and help with dev costs to make it worthwhile to have it as an exclusive for the 360.. :glare:

I would say that it also sold poorly for being a single player game. I'm not gonna start a piracy debate here, but tons of people pirated Alan Wake, the game sold poorly, and it's entirely single player with not a single online component outside of DLC (which you can pirate too). That kinda speaks for itself.

And I'd rather have it be a Microsoft/Xbox exclusive if it means the dev gets more resources to make the game better and more money to keep themselves working so they can make more games.
