It’s been confirmed that the Japanese release of Super Mario 3D Land won’t contain a traditional paper manual. Instead, players will be able to access the instruction manual digitally via the Nintendo 3DS. Expect future Nintendo releases to follow suit.

As long as it doesn't mean your forced to spend time playing a "tutorial" level or whatever crap then i'm fine with it, can't say i read them anyway.

Now they just need to remove the 1,000 health and safety leaflets they stick in every box ¬_¬

Well you should still be about to download one from the internet. :P

Wonder if these digital manuals will still have advertisements at the end. :P

Was expected.
Everything paper will be digitalized, Plastic containers are being reduced.

The last DVD I bought had the recycle logo cut out of the plastic case.
Maybe Ninty wants to save on trees.

lol...I just bought the "new" Oblivion GotY Edition and it isn't packaged with a manual... For a Mario game I think I can get by, but for a deep game like Oblivion...wtf?

don't need them i never read manuals
For most people its more of a want than a need, like DeMoN said about collecting them. i actually dislike the game cases being lighter also because for some reason it feels like it holds less significance to me... its kinda weird but ill get used to it.

lighter boxes feel like a rip-off, regardless of actual content. it's pretty much human instinct to shake the box and expect something good if it's huge, heavy and rattles. it'll take a while to adjust, but this is good, i guess. can you refer to the digital manual on the fly? or do you have to exit to the game's main menu to access the manual?

inb4 Sony are tree murderers.

I think that's cool, but I like the extra little bulk for some reason..
They should make the case fancier with that extra space, aswell as giving it more bulk.

It kinda bugs me when games don't have a large physical manual. I usually never read them but they add weight to the package which I somehow enjoy. Maybe I'm a bit OCD with my games.

Still, it's a bit more "eco friendly" and saves on production costs, so it's a win-win.

Digital manuals are nothing compared to the real thing.

Why do they even bother with a digital manual anyway? In recent Nintendo manuals instead of a number to ring, they basically tell you to Google.

But but, I always read the manual before I get home to play it... What will I do now while waiting for the bus?
If I start playing it I might get so into it I don't notice the bus stopping...
