I'm obviously very clueless here but I'm surprised that this game hasn't been injected in some way to a .wad. I'm not entirely familiar with the parameters to do this, does there need to be an existing game out that closely resembles it to make this happen? Just wondering if it's due to a lack of people dedicated to making it happen or if it's simply impossible.

As far as I know, Goldeneye is injectable (into Sin and Punishment) BUT it requires certain modifications and saving doesn't work, so it sort of defeats the purpose of trying.

EDIT: Nevermind, it appears that it was a Fake, Original's right.

RARE used something called microcodes, it's a completely different structure than a standart N64 game.
Injecting a RARE game would need that microcode, the only way to inject it is RARE launching a N64 VC game, and that's impossible.

It's not like it was a decision they made specifically to stop it from working on the Wii.

You know, considering that the Wii didn't even exist back when the game was made...

its a shame they cant pay off whoever needs to be paid off and buy the rights to goldeneye and crank out a VC of it. ive had 4000 nintendo points sitting in my desk drawer for over 2 years now. and ive been saving them specifically in case something somewhere happens that makes an official goldeneye VC a reality.

There are many details that people don't know, I will try explain the simple way possible.

1. Nintendo sold Rare to Microsoft for a good amount, it's not really Rare's fault.
2. Actually Rare is just a shell of the old Rare, many talent just flew off the company, that was the reason Nintendo disposed them.
3. GoldenEye situation is a copyright hell right now, see: Activision has the rights to publish 007 games, Microsoft has the original developers, and I think part of the N64 code is owned by Rare, Nintendo has the rights for GoldenEye 64.
4. Nintendo will not allow to MS publish such a important N64 game.
5. Microsoft will not allow to Nintendo launch a game from its own first party studio (Rare)
6. Activision is hand tied with 007 rights XD
7. There was some rumors back in the day about MS making a deal with Nintendo to release the game in both 360 and Wii, but Nintendo refused, since they have never allowed its own content in other platforms, (Banjo Kazooie, Conker are different, cause both IPs were created completely by Rare)

Is a mess, I know. =P

Rare sold half of its shares to Microsoft first...so Rare really dug there own grave there
