Late last night, Scott Olsen, a former Marine, two-time Iraq war veteran, and member of Iraq Veterans Against the War, sustained a skull fracture after being shot in the head with a police projectile while peacefully participating in an Occupy Oakland march. He remains unconscious in critical condition at Oakland's Highland Hospital.
Olsen was hit at close range. After demonstrators rush to Olsen's aid, an Oakland cop waits a few beats before lobbing a second tear-gas canister at the crowd. They are attending to Olsen when the canister explodes, sending smoke everywhere.
Our hearts and prayers go out to Scott and his family.

Personally, I'm pretty scared to see that these things happen even in the united states. if anyone could colaborate with these guys, that should be great.

Protesters are annoying. He got hurt which is what happens when police show up and you don't leave.

So if you're laying on the ground, disoriented because an officer of the law threw an explosive object straight at your head and it exploded, you're okay with that? And you're okay with them throwing them at people who are obviously trying to help you?

Yes, flash grenades explode. Not as much as a fragmentation grenade, but they explode. And that creates an explosive force, which CAN injure you.

Fear the police.
Comply with the police regardless of whether you are breaking any laws.
Comply even if you are doing something specifically provisioned for in the constitution.
Surrender your rights.
Welcome to America.

Cops do you have more power than a civilian, you better do what they say whether you break laws or not. And I am sure it's not just me, I really don't like protesters.

So lets just bend right over and let the government fuck us in the ass, shall we? You can be the first to step up to the plate. By the way, they're going in dry.

Edit - look at all the revolutions going on lately. Egypt. Libya. Just because the government held more power doesn't mean the government is right, and the population got tired of getting bent over and being made the bitch of the government. We're doing the same thing here. Granted, I hope that our situation doesn't escalate to that scale, and I highly doubt it will, but we're having a revolution. One way or another, this is an uprising.

Protesters are REALLY annoying, but the police get a little retarded with their power when suppressing seemingly non-violent protests.

I'm sure this video shows the whole story, and not anything that might've happened before, or after. You're not going to be able to tell what happened EXACTLY just from a video.

I don't understand why people feel the need to protest outside of Wall Street. What do you think protesting against the wrong target is going to do? Of course, not everyone can go to New York to protest at the heart of the movement, but if you're going to start this in other cities, you're getting a little out of hand. Not to mention, not EVERY protestor is peaceful, and not EVERY bit of footage is captured.

Don't make assumptions off of a video without knowing the rest of the story:

Before the person was shot with a paintball gun or rubber bullets (In the video, there were police offers with paintball guns, so IDK), people were shouting at the police, throwing the tear gas back at them, etc. That's not peaceful at all.

Cops have the power to enforce the law. And that's it. That's all. What the flying fuck are you talking about?

I haven't taken part in any of the protests, but we did have a small one here in my town at city hall for a few days. As far as I can tell, yes, the people that are protesting in places that aren't Wall Street are protesting towards the wrong target, but that's not the point. The point is to make themselves known, to make it known that it's not just people flocking to New York who are unhappy with the way things are now. It's people everywhere. I think they're trying to show just how wide spread this problem is, how it is affecting everyone everywhere.

Oh my god. You should move to Texas. Power is different from authority. Just because they have guns does not mean they can shoot everyone. Just because I have a knife does not mean I can stab everyone. Just because my trainer is skilled in martial arts does not mean he can beat everyone up.

Are you retarded?

(Also "I'm going to bed" right after a retort is the worst cop out ever)

While your allowed to protest it can only be in certain areas.
should the tear gas been fired at them, yes they where warned that the area they where protesting in was unlawful, they just needed to move along.
Was the last tear gas grenade necessary, no that was extremely dangerous and if the badge number of the officer is known [I highly doubt it] then they should be reprimanded for it.

qft.

A cop (or group of) isn't going to shoot someone because they're not moving out of their way. A cop is even very unlikely to shoot someone if they're assaulting them with fists, though I can't speak for each one in the world. But most cops would only shoot someone who is brandishing a weapon, such as a knife or gun at them. Saying that cops are always right and you should listen to them because "they have guns" is like saying that my friend's Mercury Grand Marquis GS is an under cover cop car because he has a sticker sitting behind his front windshield that says "UNMARKED PATROL CAR".

Do you know any idea how much paperwork a cop has to go through for firing his sidearm? They're not going to use it unless they are seriously threatened in a manner of life or death. Not some peaceful (or even unruly) protestors.

i hate that most of these officers actually believe that they could basically fire teargas or tasers into a crowd of thousand people and noone gets hurt, cause these weapons are declared as non lethal...
"its non lethal and that old man didnt leave his car immediately so i taserd his ass"
"i didnt think that my non lethal grenade launcher might crack someones skull when i didnt aim it high in the air where its supposed to be aimed"

and with protests coming up everywhere these days, many officers get somewhat excited that they will finally be able to use all those new weapons that dont require all the work a normal gun would.

@K3Nv2 Snow Day is pretty fun. My only bitch would be the camera controls, when you move around, say down, you have to move the right stick left or right to get camera to turn and get your view, other than that I like it so far.

From what people say pvp isn't even worth it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

If you can find enough for it

Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Many of them did before colour television was common.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Likely because black and white TV was in-expensive.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It certainly wasn't inexpensive it cost the same as a new car back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@K3Nv2, take into consideration how economy was back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why they listed inflation rates
