In the first week of sales of the latest game of the Batman series, Batman: Arkham City has sold 2 million copies out of the 4.2 million of the total copies that had been shipped.
The LA Times are stating that these figures do not compare Batman: Arkham City to record holders like Call of Duty however this latest Batman game is on track to outsell the previous one ‘ Arkham Asylum ‘ which sold 4.3 million copies in total where as Arkham City has already shipped out 4.6 million copies.
Rocksteady game director Sefton Hill, says ” The true test for any game is what the players think and we have been thrilled by their reaction to Batman: Arkham City, The team at Rocksteady put every ounce of effort into making the best Batman experience we possibly could, so we are overwhelmed by the incredible feedback from the community.”
These are only the sales figures for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 version, as the PC version of Batman: Arkham City comes out in November.

Why are these things even news anymore?
Any big title is certain to get a lot of sales when it is released.
I don't really like batman so I won't be getting it.

I'm not really into Batman either, but not picking it up is a loss imo. I just finished Arkham Asylum and it's a really good game, regardless of it being Batman. The game even got me more into the Batman universe while it does a very good job at storytelling and has a good of amount of fun gameplay elements. I'm really looking forward to Arkham City for PC, can't wait! :D

2 Million? And Afterfall expects to hit 10? Madness.

I got to wait so long to play it..., but I think it would be worth it. That if someone else I know close goes and buys it anyway,
Rather than waiting for the WiiU, why don't you just buy a PS3 now? You'll be able to play Arkham City and a whole lot of other great games.

Doesn't make any sense to buy a next-gen console only to buy ports of games that were already-released.

I didn't own a certain gen console myself. So rather than buying a ps3 then a wii u, which happens to have a game I like,
I'll just buy one. Basically it doesn't make sense to me to buy a certain gen console for one game when next
gen console is right around the corner. I played off others console around the house, that how I manage to play and buy games on all consoles
without actually owning them. I want my own console.

Or you can get a Xbox for like $200 brand new or dirt cheap used/older models. Everyone seems to forget that Microsoft has a console.

Oh yeah, Microsoft is "evil" though and we should never buy their shit! I always type angry rants on this stuff on Microsoft Word while using Windows XP. I would never use Microsoft products though, it's like Satan's software!

Okay, that was a bit random, but I had an entire argument with a bunch of silly people over the logic of waiting months for a game port on a console whose date is still "TBA", but of course they wouldn't listen.

Not everyone is in a hurry to play every single "big" game that is released.

Why should anyone be expected to drop $200 for a console in order to play a game that will be released on another console they already planned on getting?

Yeah, that was a bit random.

I didn't like the idea of paying online, for one thing, but besides that, I can save that $200 for the next console. I didn't understand why people are so set to get others to buy old consoles.

Because you need to pay for Arkham City's online?

I went without Xbox Live for months, only reason I still have it is because I got a month free from Devin and they had a month of Live for $1 deal on the Marketplace or whatever. It's a fantastic online service if you do pay for it, though.

don't get me wrong, I love my Xbox. There's no point in trying to convince someone else to fork over a couple hundred dollars though.

on topic: I was excited about this game at first but now that it's been released I've found I'm not in any hurry to get to it. I'll finish Rage and then trade with buddy in my "gaming network" when he finishes Arkham City.
