Nano Assault is a new shooter on Nintendo 3DS. Developed by Shin'en (Iridion, Nanostray, Jett Rocket), the game puts you in control of a microscopic spaceship called a "Nanite Vessel". Your mission is to fight off the deadly Nanostray virus that threatens to destroy the human race. There are 32 levels in Nano Assault that apparently adjust in difficulty based on how you play the game. There are also several different types of levels. One is a traditional on-rails mission where you move your ship around the screen as it scrolls forward, allowing you to shoot down incoming hostiles. The other is a more free moving mode where you control your ship along the surface of cellular bodies. The second mode is somewhat reminiscent of Mario Galaxy in how you orbit freely around the entire surface of small objects. Navigation is also an element here, as you'll have to evade obstacles and hazards such as laser-like beams of light to get your job done. Nano Assault also contains 10 large hostile bosses you'll need to beat as well. There is a boss rush included, and an enemy encyclopedia with strategies for beating foes. Nano Assault will be released exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS on November 22, 2011 in the US. No news on when it will hit other regions as of yet. Keep an eye out for it though!
