Gaming School server blocks the use of torrenting

As strange as it sounds, there ARE legit uses of torrents as some companies do use torrent style downloads to get their products out.

A. His school blocked them from the server, and
B. He's torrenting in class
something tells me that this isn't anything legit.

You shouldn't be downloading torrents in school, at the end of the day there liable for any traffic on their systems, just get over it and download from your home pc or by tethering your iphone which will cost you a bomb by the way in data rates. Last thing you want is for the school to be sued by the mpaa and it coming back on you, they'll kick you out and very few schools will take you if your a risk factor

wow, your school just decide to block torrents? I wished I went to your school when I needed. (My school internet was fast and I could get 4gb torrent done in about an hour, too bad they blocked it the next day)

While I don't justify all his previous commentsm how is the three word response he gave in this thread patronizing at all? I thought common sense dictated that it's inadvisable to torrent in class, but apparently that isn't the case. It may come to astound you, but there've been people in my school who've been expelled for torrenting, and I live in Sweden. Take the hint...

2. I dont care where your from alright, you can be from jupiter for all I care I dont give a flying ****. This is a site for asking questions like this and you come in here acting superior telling others whats wrong and what isn't. It may come to astound you, but there've been people in my school who've been expelled for torrenting, and I live in Sweden. Take the hint...

Well I didnt mention it but I live on a college campus so I have no access to other sources of wireless networking. At one point I was able to download torrents at the school but they decided to disable that I guess.

Also lol if I was raging you will know. I'm not gonna get modded for what I really wanna say to a couple of noobs who are ignorant of my practices.

blizzard updates
CC licensed music and whatnot

it's still not a lot, but the legitimate uses of torrents are growing. Sure, OP probably wants to pirate, but maybe next time you won't throw blanket statements around like an idiot.

If your in college, then figure it out yourself, if you want tv shows try http downloads, thats what i had to do when i didn't have the net at home and was running to the library to get my tv fix. theres loadsa scene release websites and they're usually uploaded to megaupload, rapidhshare etc so you still get max speed downloads

That's what I am doing right now actually.

Also, with google, use "parent directory" nameoffile -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums.
Kind of works. Most sites are sketchy, but I found a few good sites. Replace the nameoffile with something like, Blah blah mp3.

He's most likely in college, not elementary/middle/highschool.

@Ace: He wasn't patronizing him, but he was ignorant in what he said. Not all torrents are illegal, and even though the OP is most likely using illegal torrents, what he said was ignorant.
