normally, booting up this game will cause it to stop working after you choose whether to have it auto-save or not. it will give you a black screen and freeze.

However, if you hover over the game rom on the supercard menu, select "Set Patch", disable "Patch Speed", and press save, then the game works with no problems.

on a completely random note, i've noticed that GTA DS plays and looks almost exactly like another gba game that i've played. it wasn't from the gta series at all, cause gta advance was 2d, and this played exactly like a gta game. but sadly, i can't remember the name of it...

Tried this and it works perfectly, but also you have to make sure the SD read speed is set to 3X...the highest custom setting the game would run for me was 24 but the game would crash when trying to manually save.

I'm using the clean rom with "speed patch" disabled to run this game. It runs normally, without lags or slowdowns, but after the first or second "Wade Heston" mission (that detective guy who appears on the game), when I save, turn off the DS and turn on to load, the game just starts all over again from the beggining. It appeared to me 2 times, at the same momento on the game and both I losted all my progress. Somebody experienced this or know why this happens?

I haven't had any luck with the above fixes.

I use the v3.0 sp5 OS and tried the following:
-Disabled the 'patch speed' to no avail - keeps freezing after it asks you to auto save.
-Used the gta.scc file, renamed it and put this in the 'cheat' folder - enabling cheats resulted in the same outcome above.
-Also set the sd speed to 3x

I've got the 3538 version of the game - have 'enable patch', 'enable cheat', 'patch saver', 'enable reset', 'enable find patch from file' all selected.

Have I not used the cheat file correctly?

Is there anything else I've done wrong or need to do?

use the cheat, name it and put it with your rom.
make sure enable cheat is not greyed out, enable speed patch
This works for me

I tried all the different settings and nothing worked, I tried a different memory card (Went from a 4Gb to a 1Gb) and it worked. Go figure.

I also had lose save files (not lost, but reset to an earlier stage)

The only way I could repair this, is to use a patched rom, and to use the real-time save feature.

i did this and it freezes directly when i start the game. Does fix downplay and stuff also turned off?
