@Memoir If if you don't want to read it, don't. This is a fucking blog post.
Edit: Those ps2 GTA games at least looked like they had some little bit of effort thrown in. This game looks like fucking Cave Story 3D. Yeah, let's just replace wonderful and charming 2D visuals with bland and low-budget 3D ones! It'll look great!
@Scott_pilgrim It isn't the art style itself, that's fine. The game just looks like garbage. Texture work, animations, models, they're all shit. I don't even care about these fucking games, but this just looks atrocious.
@Jayro I have no problem with the art style. I don't get why anyone would. The game just looks (and will perform) like shit in every technical way imaginable. Why remake games that already exist? I can go play that game right now! If you want to put these games on modern platforms, make a fucking DS emulator and "POKEMON DS COLLECTION," featuring Diamond, Pearl, Black, White, Black 2, White 2, Platinum, and the Mystery Dungeon games. Then sell it for a reasonable price, add in some visual options, DON'T FUCK UP THE SCALING OR INCLUDE INPUT LAG, and bingo. Oh wait, Nintendo can't do that! They can't let their Disney buck count NOT increase significantly! So they need to make a shitty, cheap remake that shits all over the game's legacy so they can sell it for $60 and top the bestsellers list.
@Scott_pilgrim Everything. The people who see no problems with remakes are the people that don't care about art, plain and simple. The absolute worst way to honor any game, good, bad, Glover, or amazing, is to shit all over their value by remaking them with sUpEr gRaPhIcS, which are just pale imitations of their older forms. Saying "technical leaps make better visuals" is like saying the Star Wars Special Editions look better than the old versions. Yes, it is "technically better," but all artistic intent is lost when you just go over something AGAIN, while using your new and very different mind to make changes that never should've been made. Obviously, my most hated type of remake is... well, "COME AND BUY A PIXELIZER," but I still hate the "let's just change the visuals to SUPER GRAPHICS that have none of the original's artistic value, maybe the soundtrack and SFX, let's fuck up controls somehow and not accommodate the level design for it, and let's make the original unplayable" kind of remake. I don't know if you've caught on yet, but I like the really shitty game called Klonoa: Door to Phantomile for the Sony PlayStation. And its Nintendo Wii remake has committed all of these sins AND MORE! As much as seeing this game reach the public spotlight and become a huge hit sounds amazing to me on paper, when I really stop and think about it, seeing it butchered just as much if not more in a remake just makes me wish it would die respectfully, instead of having a shitty port of the shitty remake, which is likely what Klonoa Encore is. And if we do get a remake of its even better sequel (which just so happens to be one of the most legendary games ever made), that will be even worse than the first remake. And the saddest part is that I seem to be the only person who cares. If someone else out there cares about games not being treated like shit, let's have a chat.

Then people will call you lazy. Case in point: SM3DA. Developing a working GameCube emulator is no easy task, but according to the community it's lazy so what do I know :^)
