Requirements (perhaps):

>at least a 486 (I was emailed it works fine)
>8m RAM (god I hope you have this in this day and age)
>Some HD space for Temp (as big as your going to unzip stuff OR as big as 64Mbit Flashrom)
>800x600 resolution recommended (larger is better!)
>lpt port (SPP/EPP/ECP supported)

NOTE: A GB-X Changer is not Necessary if you just want to use GBX for its file/catalog functionality.

GameBoX exchange works with BUNG's GB X-Changer Parallel Device or stand alone. It was created with Delphi 2.0 on a PII-366 laptop pc running at 1024x768 resolution. I have also tested it on my P200 desktop pc and it works well. I tried it on a 640x480 desktop and it was pretty huge, so I would recommend at least 800x600 or higher. I have 4m, 16m and 64m carts to test, if you have any carts that are not recognized please let me know. Information should be reported back to you as far as the manufacturer ID and such.

As far as backup, I have tested it with what carts I have and they all worked correctly, feedback would be great!

When using the Emulator Launch, GBXe will minimize and wait for you to exit, and then it will return to its original size. When I tested it with SMYGB, SMYGB doesn't like a few things, 1) it doesn't like long names when launching it from command line, 2) it doesn't like just a path to the rom, it likes the actual rom in the directory. As a fix to these 2 problems, GBXe copies the ROM file to the directory where SMYGB is, in Win95 short filename form, then deletes it when SMYGB is closed. There is a plus to this method actually, any save files will be in your SMYGB directory, not mixed with your ROM files and also, games from ZIPs can be run this way as well.

GameBoX exchange has the following features:
GBXe (GameBoX exchange) is not rocket science.

It IS an interface to the BUNG product GB X-Changer. It Sends/Receives information between the device in a Real-Time check. It provides ROM listing capabilities, with Transparent (seemless mostly) ZIP support for ROMs.

Here are some of the features of GBXe:

* Identify GBX device on LTP1-3 REALTIME
* Identify GB Card 4m, 16m, 64m REALTIME
* Erase GB Card 4m, 16m, 64m
* Send GB Card 4m, 16m, 64m
* Single Quick ROM Send
* Multi ROM Send (with optional b&w patching)
* Multi ROM Build to Disk (with optional b&w patching)
* Scan Disk Directory by .GB/.GBC/.CGB/.SMC/etc
* Scan Disk Directory by .ZIP
includes multi scan for single or multiple .GB/.GBC/.CGB/.SMC/etc inside zip recognition of GB files is first done by HEADER information, and added to a resource file that captures the CRC of the GB file for recognition on the second or later passes. Also this is used for ZIP files as well, making ZIP files very quick (actually quicker) and saving space.
* ROM Backup to disk
* ROM Gameboy Detailed information
* ROM Quick Sorting
* ROM List filtering for SGB/CGB/CGB Only or JAP/ENG, etc.
* ROM List Export to Excel 97
* ROM Save/Load for quick loading of ROM list for use (no more scanning all the time)
* Licensee additions
* Device Quick Identification Information
* Save Multi ROM listing to disk
* Load Multi ROM listing to Multi ROM send list
* .ZIP viewing of internal files
* .ZIP launch of internal files with associated application
* .ZIP view of File_ID.DIZ if desired
* Info Boxe(s) containing information of current process
* Debug toggle
* Detailed Settings Box
Settings saved when launched
Can set default tab/load ROM list at startup
* Quick Directory change
* Launch ROM to Emulator
* Erase file from Disk
* Rename file on Disk/Resource file

Next Version:

* SRAM send/backup (almost complete, doing final testing now!)
* Scan cart inside for multigames

Items to add to later versions (not necessarily in the following order as well):

* Windows NT send
* Ability to add/change/remove filter/extension for GB files
* IPS linking to ROM CRC
* IPS changes in Memory as send to GBX
* Game Picture Capture viewing linked to ROM CRC
* Full Backup of Flashroms
* 512byte SmartCard Removal/Workarounds

Thanks go to BUNG for device communication information.

HELP/Information needed:

If anyone has any docs/code/detailed information as to IPS/IPS2/and RLE patching I would add it in an instant.

The newest version can be found usually at http://www.subport.org or in the alt.binairies.emulators.gameboy newsgroup.
