If you read my last blog, you know how excited I am to be getting a new laptop.
Well, looks like I'm not getting it. For now, at least. Here's what happened:
My dad, wanting to save gas, decided that instead of taking me to the credit union in the morning so I could activate my debit card and deposit the money I made by selling my car, he would take the card & money himself when on his way to work, since his job is in the same town.
So I copied down the numbers from my card, then spent the rest of the day throwing down hay then mowing the lawn ( <- now you know that I live in the country
). Later in the afternoon, I went to my friends house to softmod his Wii (which was a complete success, btw
). Dad called me and told me he deposited the money and activated my card. Thanks, Dad! (that's not sarcasm; my dad really does rock
)
anyway, while my friend was playing my backup of burnout 2, I pulled out my Dell CPx, hopped online, and tried to order the Acer and Crysis. Tried. I didn't write down the CW2, and newegg wants the issuers telephone number, which I didn't copy down either.
So, when I got home I called Dad and asked him for the numbers. He called back later and told me them.
I went back to newegg and successfully filled out the order (w00t!). However, when I checked my email an hour later I had a pair of emails from newegg that said "order denied".
I checked back at newegg, and it said my bank was blocking access to my card, or something like that. I reentered everthing I had written down, and I got two more emails saying the same thing
.
Thinking that it was something to do with newegg, I filled out a PayPal account. But before I even finished the process, an error popped up saying essentially the same thing newegg did.
TYPICAL. There are three things that could have gone wrong: 1) I wrote down something wrong, either when I was copying or when Dad told me the numbers I was missing. 2) Dad told me the wrong numbers. or 3) The credit union never activated my card.
glad I have burnout 2... destruction soothes me

Sorry for the rant, but I was looking foward to this for weeks!
Are there any financial gurus on GBATemp that may know how long it takes for a debit card to activate? I thought it was supposed to be instant...
