Why the Nintendo Switch is (for me) the best homebrew system

Well, today i'm going to write (after a long time) about why the Nintendo Switch is the best homebrew system (for me).

Well, the Nintendo Switch. A good Console, but if it's softmodded, then it's a really good device. You have soo many posibilitys. Not only that the switch is powered by a Nvida Tegra X1 processor (which is a really good processor, even tho they underclocked it for the switch) but also that the switch is portable (and has such a powerfull processor) makes it a wonderful Homebrew/Multimedia mashine. And let's not forget how many Operating Systems can run on the Switch. There is Linux/Lakka and soon Android and Windows 10 ARM. But also the Emulators on the Switch are amazing! I can finally play N64 on the go! (something that i always wanted. I also could used my Phones, but Touchscreen controlls are bad and with the switch i don't need to buy a bluethooth controller, because i can then use the Pro controller). But when the Gamecube emulator gets stable (or if it is even developed for the Switch, because in terms of compatbility it will be harder then on the Wii U because of the diffrant processor architecture <PPC on the Wii U and ARM on the Switch>) and a Dreamcast emulator gets released for the Horizon OS, then the switch will be truely amazing. I just love my softmodded Switch! Especially the L4T Ubuntu port for the Switch (which i also used to write this btw). Now i can use my Switch as a portable Linux workstation or as a Multimedia center. Let's see how long it will take until Android will be running stable on the Switch and how usefull Windows 10 ARM will be.

So, what do you think? Do you have a softmodded swtich (or are you one of the unlucky people who got a RCM patched Unit?) or are you planning in softmodding it? Write it down in the comments!

I actually bought a switch only to find out its Patched. Then I returned it for an unpatched one
haven't really got the n64 emulator but I would like to do that too. And yes Gamecube is the system that i didnt really have but would like to try the emulator
i did try the nintendont on wii which is really awesome but it needed a wired controller so that was a turnoff

Ah ok. I bought my Switch one Day before my birthday (at the time there were no patched units and homebrew was still work in progress) and it was a unpatched one. When i wanted to softmod it, i first did a FULL NAND backup (because it's importent, even tho it took the entire day to finish on a 8GB SDcard) and then when it was (finally) done, i started to experiment with. The N64 Emulator is really great (but it needs work, because it's some times having micro stutters). Tested it with Paper Mario, Blast Corps, Mario 64 and Smash Bros 64. But with the "problem" that you are aparently having with nintendont, i can't say the same. I used it with my Wii U in Vwii and didin't needed to use a wired controller with it (i used Wii remotes and the Wii U Gamepad mostly).

the reliable source has already confirmed that even Ipatched switches are fully exploitable, crackers just never released it yet.

it's point less to run Android on switch since half of population on this planet have android phones, unless ur are iphone owner plus Windows 10 ARM edition is garbage.

yea i didnt have a gamecube controller or pro controller
what i had was my friends playstation 3 or 4 controller which i connected via a cable

Ah ok.

Oh ok. I think i red somewhere that patched units come with 4.1.0 and so are vulnerable to Deja Vu. So that means, that sometime, we could get a software-based exploit (without RCM) but only on low firmware (<5.0), right?

For you it maybe pointless, but not for me. Would be cool, to use the Switch as a multifunction Device. And about Windows 10 ARM, it maybe pointless, but let's see how it turns out. It even has a Emulation layer for X86 programms, so that it could be used for something (more or less) productive (even if it is maybe slow, as long it's not too slow). So let's see...

@Budsixz you can use any classic controller or whatever plugs into the wiimote with enough buttons just fine. There might even be an adapter to use a real Gamecube controller plugged into the wiimote but unlikely. Of course you could just use the Wavebird and whatever adapter you might need of youre on Wii u. I personally don't see why you would want to play Gamecube games without a Gamecube controller but if I did it would be with a dualshock. There may be ways to use a bluetooth controller dongle or something, or connect the dualshock via the wiis bluetooth but im not sure. I know I used a Wii controller on my PS TV before I had an official dualshock lol

"You have soo many possibilities"
From where I sit that may remain all it ever is. The power might be there but it is not unique in it and with other things having a wider audience, easier coding, and easier monetisation, aka the same things that killed homebrew on the DS and PSP when they arrived for other platforms, and for my money why we never saw the 3ds and vita properly take off (or wii u, and possibly xbox 360 as well).

I might one day be proven wrong (there could be a group of 30 or so good coders with the enthusiasm to really make it happen), or the extra power available could mean mediocre coders can far more easily do slapdash ports but effect the same end results (though at a cost to battery life, storage requirements and extra features a better coder might be able to wedge in there), but I am not seeing anything to make me optimistic here.

Speaking of meatballs, what's the deal with meatball sandwich? How can people eat those? It's ROUND. Trying to bite those in a sandwich is a challenge. It's easier to eat a burger stacked with toppings. :ninja:
