Why are Americans so freaking sensitive

*Disclaimer* if you get offended by anything I say, that is not my attention however, you'll be proving my point.

I've been thinking lately (a dangerous pastime I know) but I've noticed that Americans are extremely sensitive. What ever happened to "suck it up" or "get over yourself"? For example I have said that I do not agree with homosexuality but I still am friends with and love homosexual people despite me not agreeing with this lifestyle, of course I was still called homophobic and got a lot of hate by some pansies who couldn't respect other people's thoughts. Another example is the is viewpoints on celebrities and the like. I've noticed people being unnecessarily bashed for not liking a generally liked person or vice versa. The most extreme example is something I saw today. There was a video of a photographer being observed by a young elk. It showed mildly hostile behavior as it would bend it's head down and buck the man who was sitting on the ground. He stayed down so he wouldn't upset the elk and he got away unharmed. The elk was later put down for "repeated aggressive behavior". At least 80% of the comments said that the man had performed animal abuse because the elk was put down even though he did absolutely nothing to harm it. People went as far as to say that the man should have been put down. This begs the question. What causes us Americans to be so easily offended and hate others just because they differ in opinion? What do you guys think?

Nah, Acts and Facts was a magazine series I used to read that's funded by the Institute for Creation Research, which is... something I'm not going to get into here.

And for what it's worth, Sodom and Gomorrah didn't burn because of homosexuality, it was because of rape and burglary and brutalization and etc etc

A few more examples you could add to OP:

"I don't agree with homosexuality and/or LGBT+" | "YOU HOMOPHOBIC!"
"I agree with Trump" | "YOU RACIST BIGOT"
"I don't agree with Feminism" | "YOU SEXIST PIECE OF TRASH"
"I haven't seen white privilege in my life" | "YOU RACIST PIECE OF TRASH. YOU HAVE ALL THE WHITE POWER IN THE WORLD"
"Healthcare shouldn't be free" | "YOU WANT POOR PEOPLE TO DIE BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO GIVE UP YOUR MONEY" (well, actually I don't want to lose a lot of money for people who can't afford it themselves, especially when I am paying for my own insurance, and all my other bills)

"I'm Christian" | "YOU ARE IN A CULT"

You know, I think its because we are more "pampered".

Like, me, I would just be excited to get a car.

I know, that it doesn't matter what I get, It's the thought.

I would like to say I am thick skinned, I don't take insults to hard.

What I find frustrating, is when I try to help someone and they find it as an insult.

Anyway, before I peace out, I guess I'll leave you with this;

I honestly don't think that Americans are really any more overly sensitive than any other country, other than the predictable angry and loud minority. It's just that as a human, you're more attuned to looking for drama with people you don't agree with (and then complaining about it, because that's another thing we as humans do).

I went to Wendy's today and there was an white "person" whose name was Franki (with an I), wore earrings, had facial hair, wore makeup, and had their hair in a bun and I called them a "he" and they got so pissed off with me because they were something called an "anti-boy". I then called them a "she" and they got even more upset.

They just can't take that stuff. Most of America has been spoiled, I'll give em that.

People looking for a Utopian society should probably kill themselves because the only place that exists is in heaven. There will always be someone who is dissatisfied. Whether it be whites, men, women, blacks, straights, gays, refugees, immigrants, or anything else, there will always be dispute.

I don't really have anything to add, but I wanted to say that's a really well worded phrase.

I think the rise of social media allowed people with simple minds to connect with each other.

I gave up on social media like Instagram and Facebook, i still use stuff like GBAtemp and Twitter for news I actually care about

It's true, though. In this day and age, everyone is born to be a winner. Everyone's opinion is of the utmost importance... Even when it's wrong... The "special snowflake" has devolved into a derogatory yet necessary term..

Aside from overly sensitive sociopaths... I've also noticed that no one wants to take responsibility for their life choices and actions. Rather they'd bring up the past for how terrible their lives are... And IT'S WORKING.

Ignorance breeds hate... Hate breeds violence.. It's a vicious circle we're finding ourselves stuck in. The real question is who will be the first to get us out of it. It's not even just Americans that are sensitive. It's us, as the human race. Self destructive end goals. A sick sense of entitlement.

I find it amazing how harassed I can get when I mention I am a Trump supporter. That does not mean I support every action, I just prefer him over Hillary Clinton. The hatred saddens me...truly...

@Xanthe I'm speechless. I am so happy I am not the only one who just prefers him against Hillary Clinton. And the derogatory names like "dotard" just make them look immature.

There is a huge difference between voting for somebody or against somebody. Which is what this election was.

HOW D@r3 Y0U MaKE FuN Of 'MURICA? YOU RACIST PIECE OF TRASH!

But anyways, like it's been said earlier in this thread, most of those kinda people are part of a small and very loud minority. Truth is we're pretty spoiled over here, and I wouldn't be surprised if it comes back to haunt us in the future because we all are winners and "special" in our own way and if you don't agree with what someone says than (insert stupid insult here).

I'm not religious, but someone in my physics class brought this interesting bit up and I thought I might share:

If you possessed the strongest computer in the world with an infinite pool of RAM and ran a simulation of the universe, from its inception to now, you would be simulating more than 13 billion years. Say this computer was so good it finished processing this simulation in 3 minutes. You just simulated 13 billion years, but it only took 3 minutes. So did you process 13 billion years or 3 minutes? Time is relative. A 6,000-year calendar can be just as philosophically valid as a 13-billion year one if we accept the relativity of time. If there is a God, his time might be different from our time, and therein lies a defense of the 6,000-year calendar. It's simple uncertainty that cannot be proven or disproven. And from here I can get into theories on the nature of time or that we're living in a simulation a la Elon Musk, but that would be a completely off-topic conversation.
