Who else has noticed this?

Has anyone other than me realized that a conspiracy is going on?
Here's what i'm seeing:

1. Bad games are never translated into Japanese (if they weren't originally made in Japan).
2. All the best games that are made in Japan stay Japan exclusive.

Like, if you look on Wikipedia, you'll see some sort of pattern. Bad games like ALL of the Bratz games aren't even in Japan, but good games like Haruhi Suzumiya no Chokuretsu aren't outside of Japan.

IT'S A CONSPIRACY, I TELLS YA!

so what your saying is that some japanese games dont translated into english and some english games dont get translated into japanese, wow it must be a conspiracy

No, the conspiracy is how all the better games don't get outside of Japan... And how some of the less great games don't get into Japan.

You might think that the Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi is some amazing super mainstream franchise. It's not really. Even if it's translated the company would be lucky to shift enough copy to break even.

Well I was just giving that game as an example, given that that particular Suzumiya Haruhi game is an adventure game not unlike some certain adventure games released in the US....

We get the titles that we care about like Zelda and Pokemon. In my opinion, that is enough.

Yeah, but anime tie-in games, unless the anime is very well recognised in the West, are going to have trouble performing, even if it's an amazing game. Look at the Astro Boy game for the GBA for example.

It was just a fricken example!!!!!!

Bad games like Bratz aren't sent to Japan because odds are they don't know what Bratz is. Popular toys and stuff like that don't relate to them. For them, it's mostly anime, thusly a lot of anime games (not all of them good).

A lot of quote on quote "good" Japanese games aren't translated because they won't sell well in the rest of the world. It's plain and simple.

You're statement is basically "Japan gets all good games and no bad ones". They have their share of shovelware, just not nearly as severe as us.

So I gave you an example back. Geez. You were the one going on about a conspiracy.

Sorry, my bad. LOL

Also, what's shovelware? I've heard the term but never really understood what it meant....

Jump Ultimate Stars can't be brought into North America because of licsening reasons... :glare:

Shovelware (noun): Mass produced and poorly made games for quick and cheap revenue. See Imagine series.

Shovelware is a derogatory computer jargon term that refers to software noted more for the quantity of what is included than for the quality or usefulness. The term is also used to refer to software that is ported from one computer platform or storage medium to another with little thought given to adapting it for use on the destination platform or medium, resulting in poor quality.

The metaphor implies that the creators showed little care for the original software, as if the new compilation or version had been indiscriminately created/ported with a shovel, without any care shown for the condition of the software on the newly created product.

The term "shovelware" is coined with semantic analogy to phrases like shareware and freeware, which describe methods of software distribution.

Think of that but in video-game terms...

No prob mate. We all do it sometimes.

Shovelware refers to games that the developer put minimum effort into making and putting it out quickly. They know the game are not going to do that well and no one will like it, but because it takes so little money to make they are going to make some profit anyway.

EDIT: Oh crap, lol. Two posts too late.

I knew that about the Jump fighting series for the DS... But again, that was an example. I'm talking about games that could be in america. I mean, they fricken gave us Electroplankton and not Daigasso Band Brothers, and they said (for both) that they didn't know whether they'd do good in North America.. But they cancelled the american release of Daigasso... Which they blamed that on the "fact" that it probably wasn't going to do good. Come on... That's like a big gyp!

And all those Tales of games that are Japan exclusive on the DS. Come on, not having those in america is the same as telling someone what they're getting for christmas but never giving it to them.

You seem to be under the impression that Daigasso! is the best game ever and everyone in the world likes it. It's a collection of, for the most part, J-Pop music, anime music, and video game music. I'll pass. Daigasso! would completely bomb in the US; not every American likes anime or J-Pop.

Again, Tales wouldn't do nearly as well. It's a series that has never been huge in the US and they realized that Japan-only releases would get more cash. Companies aren't sympathetic towards the few fans of a game in another country. They won't say because 1,000 people like it that they'll release it in that country. Unless it's gonna make them money, they're not gonna sell it.

You're thinking in an incredibly closed box of "I like it but it's not in the US, therefore it's a bad decision!" It's incredibly clear why none of these games were released outside of Japan in economic terms.

Obviously, you realize, like with Elite Beat Agents and Osu, they'd have changed all the songs to something american, right?

EDIT: I also do realize that I have incredibly closed box thinking.... I mean, for ceiling cat's sake, I think they kill themselves every day they don't port all the good games from the PS1 and 2 onto the NDS.

Yeah, except that the game would no longer be Daigasso. Osu and EBA are 2 different games. Sure, they probably use the same engine, but they're 2 seperate games. When you say you want Daigasso to come to America, I generally perceive it as translate and send to the states, not use the same engine and completely change it around.

*Sigh* Yeah, but Barbara the Bat is in both Daigasso AND in another game, Master of Illusion.
In Daigasso, she works in GB Music... And in MoI, it's GB Magic....

So why can't they include Daigasso in the english releases, huh?

:wtf: i just realized this became a Daigasso not in america ranty thread.
