Weird day at the dentist

So yea, today I went to the dentist to fix a tooth (idk the word for that hole in a tooth, so please someone, tell me :D)
so the dentist check radiography
she's like, well, it doesn't looks so bad
so she tests it with cold air, was hurting as fuck
so she first numb it
after few minutes, she retests it, still hurting as fuck
so she renumbed me... look.... it tooks 4 needles and it was still hurting as fuck
So, she started digng in that "hole" (please tell me xd)
and placed temporary sealing
She then tells me she wasn't numbing at the right place for that tooth xD
and now, she and all her staff, go for vacation... for 3 weeks xD
so... yea... sad...

@The Real Jdbye ok thanks ;)
@the_randomizer well, it's not fun, but I'm not scared anymore, like when I was child

@the_randomizer It never actually lived here
especially on a forum where we write and dont talk

Some dentists are terrible at it and I wonder why they got the licence. XD Tsk tsk. Glad that you are doing okay. You live! :D

Definitely find a different dentist. Sounds like that tooth is going to need a root canal. If so, find an endodontist to do that procedure. If you wait too long with a tooth like this, then the root canal/crown will no longer be an option, and they will have to extract the tooth. Whatever procedure you have done with this tooth in the future, don't fret about it. If the dentist is competent, the only thing you should feel is a few pinches from the numbing shots. Good luck!!

@azoreseuropa well, yea i live
She needle really really not deeply, on surface
she then drop a tiny drop
then we wait few seconds, and then fully numb it...

you just reminded me something i did long time ago, I was like 3 or 4
I bit the dentist finger to blood
Well, I dont remember, but each time i go to dentist, my mom reminds me this xd

@xpoverzion hum... did you graduated as a dentist?
because the dentist I have has been graduated 4 times... (well she has 4 diploma)
If I really needed that, I think she would have told me

Also, I simply said the tooth hurted and you come out with this?
it could have been thermo-sensibility or cavities or many other reason...

Your post only deserve a "lol?"

The fact that your dentist can't get you numb with numerous shots should make you suspicious of her credentials. There is a lot of malpractice and fraud out there in every industry. I don't care what you do with your tooth. But the fact that you describe your tooth as having a big "hole" that hurts really bad when cold is applied, tells me that there is a 99.9% chance that a root canal or tooth extraction is in the future for you. Have fun with that, and your incompetent dentist!!

Happened to me once when i was younger (like, 7~10 years old-ish). I was just so scared it would hurt so they absolutely numbed my mouth with needles. I didn't feel anything while she was extracting my teeth (i don't remember if she was extracting my teeth or if it was another procedure. I have a really complicated dental arch to remember right now), but i also didn't feel anything on my mouth for the past 2 hours... Maybe even more... I just remember feeling like 10 bees stinged my whole mouth and it increased in size by like 10x.

Really quite the temporary botox if you ask me.

Completely unrelated quite off, but when i was younger i once fell and hit my teeth. The teeth literally darkened inside, like there was something like (gore warning i guess?) coagulated blood inside. It was truly terrible. Even worse was the fact that, when that teeth felt over some months after (you know, the whole "TOOTH FAIRY" thing every kid had) there was NEVER a teeth growing or anything. THEY HAD TO LITERALLY CUT MY GUMS TO MAKE THE TEETH ACTUALLY COME OUT. And now my teeth are fine. They just need aligning (aka braces),but otherwise it's okay.

@Vieela what annoys me the most about numbing is when they numb upper teeth
Sometimes, it numbs your nose as well
And... dont ask me why... your nose becomes itchy as fuck
you try to scratch it, but it doesnt work :(

@Noctosphere LOOOL this is actually relatable. It is indeed terrible. It's really terrible whenever it happens, either when it's because of artificial numbing or when limbs go dorment (arm, leg, etc). It itches... and you itch it... AND IT NEVER STOPS ITCHING...

Yeah, once I had a tooth pulled, and they numbed me. They used novacain iirc and they also had me on Nitrous Oxide. I kept trying to feel the mask, and I kept touching my upper lip. I thought it might be the mask, but it was super squishy, so I wasn’t sure if it was. I couldn’t feel it at all.
Also, afterwards, I was thirsty, so I tried to drink a cup of water, and, well, I probably only got a fifth of it down my throat.
