Weight Loss: Goal - Lose 15-20 KG

Ok well, I'm only 14 and a half...And yet I weigh 77KG, get incredibly tired from very basic things and want to change this. A few problems, the first being, there is always junk food around my house and I end up eating it plus I have lots of chocolate from Easter. The second, Badly sick atm, making it hard to do any exercise at all.

My original plan was to go for runs for about an hour every day, didn't go according to plan, because for some reason, I'm embarrassed for anyone I know (non-interwebz) to know about me doing this. Just spent an hour doing aerobic and muscle exercises, sweating like a pig but it felt good because I know I'm committed into doing this.

So what do you guys think about my goal; is it reachable, how long will it take me if I'm doing 1-2hours exercise a day?

On a side not, out of 120GB of data per month, I've currently used 119,990MB In other words, I've got 10MB to last me 4-5 days or else my net is incredibly slow. Chances are, I'll run out within 30 mins lol.

Just walk a lot (I weigh about what you do, I walk between 5 and 8 miles each day and am seeing the weight fall off), you don't have to kill yourself, change your eating habits (switch all drinks to water, stop eating the chocolate, and stop eating so much junk food (though a little junk food once in a great while won't hurt)), and make sure you don't over do it.

if you're honestly serious and committed to losing the weight, you can just change your eating habits. you're younger, losing weight is much easier for you than when you get older.
going vegetarian sounds like a lot, maybe even too much. but it's one of the best choices you can make if you want to lose weight and keep it off. also, don't eat junk food. period. and stay away from soda. tea, juice, milk, and water are much better for you.
walking regularly would definitely help but if you're anything like me, you're embarrassed to be seen walking around the neighborhood or you're honestly just too lazy to do it, changing your eating habits would be the first step.
even just going vegetarian for periods of time -3 months, 6 months- until you're at a weight you're comfortable at.
also, if you're really really serious about this and you want the weight off now, there is the lemonade diet.
it's an extreme liquid diet during which you lose .9KG a day for 10 to 60 days - a minimum of 9KG in 10 days to a maximum of 27KG in 60 days. i can help you through this if you want to PM me and we can talk on AIM or whatever you have.

also, pix please.
jk about the pix part.

I just read about the lemonade diet, the detox one right? It seems a bit intensive, I'm serious about losing the weight, but I don't know if that's really the way to go, 6 months of no meat would be crazy, drinking nothing but water is relatively simple...I have Wii Fit and the activities on that are real so would that be 1 way to go? Frankly, once I get to a healthy weight where I can run without getting tired so easily, I won't mind running around my neighbourhood for an hour or 2 a day. Also, that 10MB is now gone =(

Gonna say this now; don't depend on the Wii shit for weight loss. It is so far less effective then doing things on your own.

What's the difference? How is it far less effective?

It doesn't give the calorie burning experience it tries to boast. You're better off going for a good run outside. It is absolutely the best exercise you can get without any form of special equipment.

going vegetarian might not be as hard as it sounds. at least it definitely wasn't for me.
even just cutting red meat out of your diet and sticking to grilled white meat, primarily chicken would be great for you.
i understand your not wanting to do the master cleanse (lemonade diet) since it really is extreme at first. but upon completion, it leaves you feeling accomplished and proud of the 20lbs you've lost. it also cleans out your colon which is a great way to lose a few extra lbs you never knew were there and to introduce your body to a healthier lifestyle.
also, i support you as much as i can because i know how you feel.
i'm 19, 5'8. and 6 months ago i was 230lbs/104KG. now, after being vegetarian for 3 months and just cutting junk food, soda, and most red meats out of my diet i'm down to 175lbs/79KG (not fat anymore). just remember that if you really want it, you have to do what it takes. but this doesn't mean that you have to suffer :)

Don't deny yourself something, but definitely cut back on the junk food. If you give up cold turkey then you're more likely to give up completely. Honestly my diet consists of a small bowl of frosted mini wheats, a pb&j sandwich on 100% whole wheat, a special k protein bar, and maybe some goldfish crackers, but I don't eat this all the time, I've lost like 30 lbs with very little exercise. I tend to eat more during that "special" time of the month...but usually I don't eat hardly anything, I know it's not healthy, but I'm too nauseous from medication :P. I started this in January. I could never go vegetarian, I hate the taste of vegetables. Only reason for the lack of exercise is due to the bipolar weather and my hatred for the treadmill. I want to get a new bike seat and go ride my bike once it starts actually becoming spring.

well if you really want to lose a lot of weight fast, I suggest the camebridge diet (or it's called something like that). A friend of mine has been on it for 2 weeks, and he's lost 45kg. It consist of only 1 fruitshake in the morning, one chocolate bar and cereal with milk each day. Nothing more, except water.
It's a bit extreme, but it works.

Don't be a twat by doing those liquid diets, you'll be a skinny runt by the end of them with 0 muscle and barely the strenght to beat yourself. Just eat until you're full (normal full, not bloated), do intense weights for an hour and you'll have fat loss while gaining muslce/strength.

Green Tea an hour or 30mins before exercise helps in endurance, you sweat alot = faster reduction.

And drinking Green Tea after every meal is also not a bad idea. I followed just the Green Tea method, no exercising, lost 5kgs in 4 weeks, may not sound interesting to some.

Atleast it worked for me.

Eat 2000> kcal a day or as close as you can.
No snack unless healthy like fruit, 3 meals a day. (You might think skipping breakfast is a good idea but a lot of people eat in between and end up worse off.)
If you do run, don't do 1-2hours a day straight off, first jog for 20 minutes and build otherwise you'll wear yourself out right away and never want to run again.

Good luck. :moogle:

EDIT: Basically, it's all about finding a balancing between losing weight and your willpower. Don't attempt to ditch junk food altogether as you're not superman.

The problem with short-term diets is when you drastically change the way your feeding your metabolism, you might GAIN weight before you lose it. So your diet will either have to last far longer, or you will get discouraged and give up. I sucessfully lost 90 lbs last year, so here is my advice:

1. Always breathe through your nose. Breathing in through your nose generates NO, breathing out through your nose keeps oxygen in your bloodstream longer BECAUSE nose exhaling meets resistance; mouth exhaling the air forces it out too rapidly. Nose breathing DIRECTLY AND CONSTANTLY IMPACTS BODY TEMPERATURE. (sweat much ?) If you have trouble nose breathing, YOU MIGHT NEED SURGERY. NO BULLSHIT.

2. FUCK MODERATION. People say OHHHHHHH sweets in MODERATION is ok. Let me ask you a question. Would you smoke crack in moderation ? Fuck no, crack and candy are engineered to be addictive as shit. Drop all that shit cold turkey. I know it's brutal. But it's a worthless addiction. Such temporary joy from sweets and junk food. FIGHT BACK. It's a winnable battle.

3. Fruit juice might as well be soda. I KNOW it's brutal. I KNOW you don't wanna hear that. But guess what, it's true. (kind of old link, but the 1st one to pop up http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/02/11/...ain673229.shtml So flush that shit and eat the fruits themselves. Fruits are hard to buy, so do some research, ask your grocer produce guy what is in season, learn how to peel a kiwi, get a citrus peeler, etc etc. I'm sorry but don't drink juice.

4. Count calories. Find out how many a day is right for you. I lost weight eating no more than 1600 a day. I went down to 1500 at one point but it was too low so I went back. Once again, you will probably gain weight before you lose it. I know that is discouraging, but life isn't fair. You can win. Also don't manipulate your diet based on your exercise, keep your calories consistent even if you slack off/work hard.

5. If your exercise isn't FUN, flush it down the shitter. I lost 90 lbs using Stepmania (Dance Dance Revolution clone for PC) and a hackey sack (footbag.) The problems with wii fit are the load times, etc slowing down your heart between exercises, inaccurate calorie count, etc. The trick to aerobic exercise is maintaining for 20+ mins straight.

People who have never been fat are fucking clueless. Don't let assholes get you down. Quitting fast food is hard as shit, but you can do it. Quitting fruit juice/soda is hard as shit, but you can do it. I was 265lbs, got down to 175, now I'm at 185 gaining muscles. Fuck anyone trying to get you down, fuck em up their god damn ass.

Speaking of meatballs, what's the deal with meatball sandwich? How can people eat those? It's ROUND. Trying to bite those in a sandwich is a challenge. It's easier to eat a burger stacked with toppings. :ninja:
