US$ games VS Php games in prices

I just noticed that American people complain on the high demand of games' prices when there are other countries with the worst VAT ever.

Take the Philippines, for example. Filipinos has wished all games bought in our country has the same price as the US ones because the ones sold in the philippines are doubled the prices of what it should have been in the US.

I had been promoting ROCKSOFTONLINE and its iEDGE cart and it seems cheap for me but it's expensive to others. There's a conflict here between two sides.

DS games are so darn cheap in the US that the people complain for its high price but some other countries (with annoying tax) has wished it would have been the same.

PLAY-ASIA is selling Japanese products at doubled the price when if it's converted it shjould be atleast cheaper. The same system has been applied in the Philippines for all imported goods and we wish it should be the same with the US counterparts.

So yeah, my point here is that....."there are other countries with worst sales TAX and country TAX that the original distributor should not complain" In this case Americans should not complain with the prices of the games they're buying.

Feel free to comment but dont go over board. This is just my personal opinion about the games and console prices on each country.

So yeah, let's take Pokemon HGSS as an example. How much is it in your country if the US$ is atleast US$40 or les?

Hmmm...comparing it with Pokemon Platinum, it cost me around Php2,000 but in Toy Kingdom, it is Php 4,000. Pokemon Platinum is, I think, US$35 at that time

US$ 1 = Php 48 ......do the math

I remember I bought a NTSC-U copy of some Wii game a couple years ago in the Philippines. The total averaged out to be almost $70 USD. For a freaking Wii game. Mass Effect 2's "Special Edition" costs that much.

'suppose it's the price for importing a large majority of stuff.

I'm with Chris on this one. Every time an American complains about "prices" I want to hire this ostrich to stare at them. DS games are $60-70 here, Wii games are $70-$80. The DS Lite is $230, the DSi is $285.

And gasoline is $6 per gallon.

:hateit:

woah... i understand what you mean.

Pokemon HG/SS is $40 CAD... and I tried converting 4,000php into USD... It gave me $83.33. That is expensive.

People say consoles are more expensive in Philippines and when you buy something, it is recommended to buy consoles for example in Canada then bring them to the Philippines.

man and i was complaining about the 87$ a game i was paying for US PS3 games here in japan that must suck paying that much for games you should probably just import games instead of paying that price.

I get import games for the PS3 from Play Asia for slightly less than that except for FF XIII that was $99.

yeah i used to get them a little bit cheaper when i lived in the US but the cool part is we have shops to get US/Europe games conveniently...i know you can do that in the US but the stores are harder to come by then here.

i ended up spending over 700$ at Game Hollywood the other day on 7 PS3 games and some preorders...
Dude, that's what Greenhills is for.
Only if you know where to look in Greenhills.

You can only find 1 store that sells Php850 Acekard. Only 1 store that sells Php 8,200 Nintendo DSi. Most stores will sell it with huge taxes on bundle. Even in Greenhills, there are taxes over there. Where can you get a US$180 Nintendo DSi?

Greenhills ONLY APPLIES TO Northern Luzon, what about our fellow gamers in Visayas and Mindanao????

It just seems expensive here due to the economy. I know it's expensive to me...I've been having issues finding a job, so I do all the cooking and cleaning for about $60 a month...and there are 5 other people in this house...all of which who are slobs, plus all the animals here. Why in god's name are my sister and step-sisters both getting allowance? They do absolutely nothing...wait...what were we talking about again? Oh yeah money...it was expensive even when I had a job! I had to pay for food (that everyone else ate <_<) and clothes as well as my part of the cell phone bill and rent, plus I had to attend school and still do all my chores around the house (and my other step-sister complains that going to school and having a job where she worked less hours than I did was tiring...please I never got a day off, I worked pretty much full-time for way less money than she gets and I had to go to school along with keeping my grandparents house in perfect shape...I swear...kids today...). Anyway I need to stop getting off track. Games are still more expensive everywhere else...look at Australia...I think it's nearly $90 for a Wii game, maybe a bit more...

You think you got it bad ?

Seriously its so bad here that stores have literally stopped getting Original DS games and selling fake R4's for like 40$; its somewhat hilarious

And the prices of consoles....

Xbox 360 Elite - Will set you back 520$ USD

PS3 Slim 120GB - 420$ USD

A DS Lite will set you back 130 $ USD

DSi - 220$ USD

PS3 games - 70$ USD a piece (no matter how old) and for new releases 80$ USD

360 Games - you rarely find them here due to mass piracy.

Bottom Line : If you dnt know someone your pretty much fucked when it comes to buying any game, games console or handheld.

the problem here is the just the taxing we have on ALL electronics. and its not like the gvt can really do anything about it.... meh...

Its a major problem for people living here, as in the near-middle east. and its really hard to order online due to well lets see:

a. No paypal
b. Absolutely unbelievable delivery costs
c. and the agony that the customs give you here on all electronic things.

Sorry i feel like im hijacking this thread, but seriously i don't see why other countries have to pay less, i really don't think its my countries problem, i believe it has to do with the individual companies.

For example, if you go to the Sony Retailer here, things cost 100$USD more to what they would cost in the US, as i result i believe it is SOny that imposes all these extra costs..which is so messed up. not to mention game releases usually take a month to get here (the PS3 slim took 1 month alone) that there says something.

The TAXES are the cause of this expensive plague. If we have low taxes, we could easily enjoy the games and consoles we want.

In the Philippines, there is a 12% TAXES plus those stores are selfish. and they put more taxes to increase their sales. People here are selfish and they are corrupt. They want money, they will force us to pay at a higher price so their shop will not be "lugi" or lose their sales.

Im surprised there are stores who are true to their customers.

Im sorry for your situation and I hope for your best.
