(refer to the diagram to see where I am)
Go to work
It's a normal day
Not feeling sick or anything.
Scan stuff for people.
Wutever.
Started at 2
It's now 3
I feel a bit tired
Figure it's cuz I closed the nite before.
3:30
Feel really bad.
In the middle of an order.
Tell myself I'll get water after this order.
Turn light off.
Realize I can't make it the whole order.
Reach for fone.
Possibly hit button to page through the speakers
"Phil register 4, Phil"
Hang up phone.
(pretty sure I did)
Rest my head on my arm.
Shit, I have an order.
Try to scan this damn coffee that won't scan.
(I was able to see part of the bar code folded over)
Loss of vision.
Only a few feet in front of me is visible.
Turn around to register 3
Nobody there.
Ask co-worker to cover for me.
Head over to water fountain.
(it was probably broken anyway)
Step
(can't see)
Step
(quite dark)
Step
(can't see a thing)
Hit my arm
(Probably bumped a customer)
Mumble something that was supposed to be a "sorry"
Blood
I can taste it.
Not painful
Hearing starts to come back.
"Ben!" "Oh my God!" "Are you Ok?"
Eyes open up.
Chase display in front of me.
Floor on my left side.
Head doesn't hurt.
That's good.
At least 5 people around me.
They stand me up
(I can stand)
Sit me down.
Give me water.
I feel better.
Hear Tammy calling 911.
"What's your mom's number?"
"My phone is in register 4"
(I can talk at least)
I dial home.
Tammy's talking to my dad.
Head resting on my knees.
Look up.
Stretcher and other medical equipment.
He asks questions.
I can't remember too well, but I say what I can.
Fully conscious.
They let me climb into the stretcher.
Jon (my school friend in Starbucks) asks me what happens.
People tell me I look pale.
--
Carried out into the Amberlamps.
Questions
IV
Cutting through traffic.
I felt weird.
Didn't think I'd ever be on a stretcher.
Didn't feel like I needed to be anymore either.
Sit me down
Run some tests
Take some blood.
Bathroom.
They at least trust me to walk.
An hour or two spent there.
Then free to go.
--
The doctor said something with blood pools in my legs.
She said I must have been standing funny
(I do stand funny)
And to drink and eat more.
--
Jon told me I apparently did run into someone at the ATM
Scared the shit out of them.
He also commented that I looked like death.
So I'm alright.
I feel kinda sick
But I can walk, stand... maybe not run.
Talk to you guys later.
Peace!
