Too hot to sleep

Too. Hot.

Basically, the temperature has risen to 33 degrees Celsius during the day, and that means terrible heat at night. I didn't get any sleep last night and I fear it'll be the same this night. I cannot think of a solution. Opening the window lets more heat in. Lots of things won't work for me because of sensory issues. The sound of a fan is too annoying. I need a thick blanket to fall asleep because of the pressure. Water/Ice feels too weird. It's always during the summer when my sensory processing issues start acting up (ASD, Autism).

Help meh.

you say things like a fan don't work for you becuase of your issues... so, yeah ok you will have trouble. but no sleep is more of an issue than a fan... right?
can't you just wear ear plugs or something?
how desperate are you, maybe get a towel wet with cold water and cover yourself in it.
many desperate people could do a few things i guess, but if you have these issues with senses like you say... yeah it's difficult!

It's been hot here at night too, but having a load of windows open and sleeping downstairs helps for me. Even though you end up finding moths everywhere when you wake up.

Afraid I have no particular advice for someone in your position. It has been hot as you like here as well and unless you want to switch up and do daytime sleeping (it somehow works easier) then I have all sorts of machines that can help me keep cool. I can fall asleep during sirens, in vehicles, as people are mowing the lawn and I have yet to try it but probably during a bombing as well.

@FAST6191 Samuel L Jackson actually read the official audio book version :P

I know in these weird lands of (not so) Northern Europe Air Conditioning is believed to be a mythological creature inhabiting the lands of the far South, but TBH, get a damn AC or learn to sleep. And don't call 33°C too hot, I've slept perfectly in hot 50°C+ nights next to this mythological beast.

@joyoshi
I can relate to the issues you're having. I need a proper duvet to sleep. A sheet isn't heavy enough. So in this heat I just don't really sleep at all. The heat makes all my sensory issues worse too. My feet get too hot and itchy so I can't wear socks or shoes, so I have to wear crocs but then I have to walk carefully so my toes don't touch the inside of the crocs (shudder). The sunshine is far too bright for my eyes even with sunglasses on. Also I like to cover my arms and legs as much as possible if I have to go out otherwise I feel too vulnerable, but in this heat it's impossible. My skin feels horrible right now, like there ants crawling inside it or something.

Summer is not a good season for people with autism :glare:

Do you have a garden you could sleep in? It's helped me sometimes in the past.

@Darkyose Yeah me too. I can't sleep without sound or noise. I always keep my TV and fan on until I wake up the next day.

Also, fuck this summer, it seems to be hotter than the last few summers. I don't remember having so many 90f+ days last year.

It's not just hotter than the last few summers, it is literally the hottest first 6 months of a year in recorded history.

Thanks global warning

I must be lucky. It only gets up to about 75f (rarely 90f) here in this part of California...
And then it drops to about 51f at night...

I don't know what you guys are talking about. The beginning of this year stayed cool through may for me, and this summer has been pretty decent on most days. Definitely cooler than last year was. Only a few days have been as hot as last year.

Speaking of meatballs, what's the deal with meatball sandwich? How can people eat those? It's ROUND. Trying to bite those in a sandwich is a challenge. It's easier to eat a burger stacked with toppings. :ninja:
