This place is HAUNTED!

This place is freaking haunted. NO JOKE

SMCC is a community college that is built on the grounds of a 200+ year old fort. It's been around since sometime in the 1800's or earlier, and saw the Civil War, WWI, and WWII. Before the fort was a settlement from some of the very first Maine colonists.

There's a freakin' graveyard on campus that the colonists used, so old that the writing on most of the headstones have eroded away, and many of the headstones are simply flat stones with no markings they stuck in the ground.

The first few times I heard noises last semester when I started, I dismissed it as the fact the buildings are very, very old (most are the original fort buildings), and they were just settling and such at night. ... "Huh, those footsteps were probably just the wind." ... "Did I just hear a door? Naah..."

As you may already know, I'm a Security guard here at SMCC. Most of my shifts are at night, meaning I have to go through buildings by myself locking doors and turning off lights. I used to have no problem with this.

I used to be able to go into dark rooms without a second thought.

I used to be sane.

Here's just SOME of the most recent experiences I had, all of which were very late at night when the employees and students are long gone:

- In Howe, a former hospital when the fort was still active, I heard a muffled voice down a hall soon after I locked the door and was about to turn off the secluded lights. I searched the building, shouting "Security!", but nobody answered and I couldn't find anyone. I didn't hear any of the doors open, so nobody left while I was searching... :wtf:

- In Cates, I heard a door open and scrape across the carpet. This especially freaked me out, because it came from the direction of a door that I had JUST checked to be locked.

-In Tech, I was going up one of the staircases and heard a door below me, perhaps 2 levels, click as if it was opening/closing. The building was dark and I was the only one in it.

-Mckernan, the hotel that everyone says is haunted. I turned off a light in a locked room, then an hour or so later it was on again.
(Other guards have seen dark apparitions, heard footsteps, and one heard someone slapping their hand on the bars holding up the handrail on the stairs, like a kid running down the stairs and hitting the bars on the way down. Not to mention the lights turning themselves on again after they leave, like what happened to me.)

Mckernan, Cates, Captain's House, and areas of other buildings also give you a strange feeling in your gut, as if you really, REALLY shouldn't be in there.

I couldn't sleep last night at all. I think I'm going crazy.

LOL, I found that last bit funny. :D

If they do exist, they're friendly ones. They're American soldiers/children/peeps just having fun, you're an American! Relate to them. It's easier to come to terms that they exist and feign that they are friendly than not believe and be scared.

Yes because when you yell security at someone who is in an area they aren't supposed to be in they are going to stay there.

Interesting idea, but the one in McKernan (according to the guard that witnessed it) was a very dark black, shadow like form sitting at one of the tables. When she turned to look at it, it dissipated into the air.

She doesn't believe in ghosts, but spirits, and if it was a spirit then it would have been an evil one, since it was so dark.

One of my friends actually works in McKernan and had to spend the night in there by herself. She was locked in the bathroom (which doesn't lock!), then said "Charlie, let me out!" and the door unlocked.

In the main lobby of McKernan is a painting of a 50/60's era teenager (based on his clothes and hair styles, I'll have to read the description plate again sometime) with blonde hair, blue jeans, and a red and white horizontal striped T-shirt. The description plate under it says his name is Charlie, and that he drowned close to this area. The hotel was dedicated to him.

That is some creepy S**T right there :wtf:

EDIT: @ worlok375: I searched the building, and didn't hear the loud, squeaky doors open for anyone to leave.

Or whatever it was decided to stay right there because the door was locked.

You should call a paranormal investigator like hop2089 said. Or ask you boss or whoever that he moves you to another place to watch.

If the doors are locked, you can still get out. You just can't get in. And, as I have stated TWICE already, I searched the building

Day shift is looking more and more appealing...
Or, you know, rational option:

Ignore it.
Never do this! The ghosts will get PMSy and do more stuff to get your attention. If it was a dark shadow like form that's only because they don't emit light, or more likely what little light there is being bent around them (the photons) so you can see the "outline" and not their face or whatever (if they even look like humans, they're probably not like the ones in Harry Potter).

Long sentence is long.

Long sentence is long indeed.

Also, how do you ignore something that shouldn't be possible? How do you ignore a door that you had just checked to be locked opening when you walk away with your back turned?? (Yeah, I GTFO when that happened. Something was sneaking up on me...)

You didn't stick around for the surprise buttsecks?

Well, isn't pretending it's real and having an answer better than not knowing anything at all? Just make sure you can differentiate between them and burglars.

Man, if you really believe this is happening, try to communicate with them. They don't seem to mean any harm (if they're actually there) but might as well try to communicate with them. Don't do any drastic shit intended to scare them, just talk maybe? And not as if you're scared either.

Hah, man iunno. I'm always skeptical of this stuff, but for some reason I always want to believe it's real. (Though it's always extremely hard to believe it's real, so I really don't, I'm just playing along)

Come to SMCC and join Security. You will believe. You. WILL. Believe.

I'll try talking and such ONLY if I have another guard or one of my friends with me. I don't want to make myself a target and not have anyone there to help me if things go wrong. Especially McKernan; Dark spirit = very, very bad.

I believe this stuff is real and it has me a little interested. Is there any way you may be able to take some sound recordings of the noises and things and send them to me?
