I'M SO FUCKING STOKED!

So, I grew up in a trailer park, and have been fiddling with computers since an early age, but never really got any official education on them. Well, I start my tech classes this semester (previous semesters were non-tech things), and today was my first day at the main college campus as well (the previous classes I took were online or at the local regional center), so I was all intimidated and stuff at first... Everybody was so nice and helpful! I had orientation for two classes today, the first was a younger guy that seemed to really know his stuff, the second was an older man that mentioned Zenith and 5-1/4th floppies (but still makes an effort to stay sorta' current). I was worried about the books as well, but it turns out since I wasn't getting them before classes started that it could just come out of my grant along with tuition... so it did!

So I've gone from a trailer park kid fiddling with a windows 95 machine, to sitting in college FINALLY taking classes on a subject I absolutely love and getting a formal education and certifications. I'm so happy I actually cried a few times.

It's a 40-minute drive to the main campus, but that's just for those two classes (the others are online) and it's only two days a week.

Anyways two of the books I've got for a class seem interesting, any comments on them?

Hands-On Ethical Hacking and Network Defense, 2nd Edition (Michael T. Simpson, Kent Backman, James E. Corley)
The Art Of Deception (Kevin D. Mitnick)

Good luck!

There are also some theoretical computer science classes that are pretty interesting after you go pretty deep in CS.

looks like 2 network security classes

ive already taken a class on computer hacking
not how to hack but just general information about how they go about doing it, the reasons ect...

im taking software engineering classes and graphics along with your standard college calculus classes

From now on when people ask what my Cyclo is for I'm saying Ethical Hacking. Makes a change from the whole cliched 'I download to test them, if they impress I buy them' line.
