Still hoping for some clever patch for 20b2

As it seems more and more likely we all got stuck with the current bricking 2.0b2 as last GW loader, I am still hoping for some some clever guy (or girl) to patch out the bricking code.

I understand that it is very difficult, if not impossible, to do so but I can keep up my hopes.

In the mean time I have a massive back-log on games to play so if GW comes up with a new card they can put it where the sun doesn't shine :-)

but hey.... there is still hope for FW2.0

What's wrong with using 2.0b1 if you're scared of bricking?

Honestly, even if someone did take on such a project, I'd rather use the vanilla 2.0b2 than put my faith in someone random person who claims they removed all the bricking code. If the team that wrote the code couldn't catch subtle flaws in their code, I doubt someone who didn't write it could do it.

tbh im not 100% sure exactly how it work's but from what i read there is a sort of emulator running within the launcher, this emulator is what runs the brick code,in theory disabling that emulator would mean the brick code could not run....but idk maybe parts of the code are run through it to make sure the emulator isnt broken/removed, if any of the devs with the capability to examine and disable the code wanted to help flashcard users/pirates, im sure they could just focus on their own coding and drop gateways launcher all together and make either a sort of open source all in one launcher or a launcher that would just boot roms from the SD slot, either way with the current devs working on the 3ds this doesn't seem too likely

for some reason people think hurling abuse at people who are coding for the 3ds will suddenly make them change their entire opinion, i don't think any amount of abuse from people will make them change their mind it would more likely just fortify their decision, best you can hope for is a new dev stepping into the game with less/different morals

No, disabling the VCPU breaks everything, because the entire code is in that VCPU. It would be enough to just nop out the eMMC code, which does the lock stuff and the Launcher.dat is 99.999999% brick free (there is always a chance of a software failure which could trigger a soft-brick).

ahhh i see thanks for clarifying :D

Neat. How do you know this?

Because i know someone with a emulator who looked into it. That's how we found out what Brickway do. Doing this by hand would be a pain. With a emulator it's not hard to find the code, which does the eMMC stuff.

If anyone is interested in dabbling in patching the fw the writes to the chip to set the boot to a size of 0 is:

Code:
0xEFAC62EC...0x00CBAEA7...0x0

Speaking of meatballs, what's the deal with meatball sandwich? How can people eat those? It's ROUND. Trying to bite those in a sandwich is a challenge. It's easier to eat a burger stacked with toppings. :ninja:
