So my first 3D printer just arrived...

I've never owned one before. I'm looking forward to setting it up this weekend. I still need to go to Fry's and pick up some basic filaments, but I'm excited to get started. I've been educating myself thanks to various Facebook groups, YouTube videos, and cheap/free upgrades I can do to this thing to maximize output quality. Once I feel confident enough with my settings and results, I'll setup a proper Etsy shop and take print commissions.

Nice. I got one a few months ago, a Geeetech A20M. It does dual color mixing (two in one out) which is why I got that particular one, that and the silicon carbide glass bed that comes with it, which makes prints stick better while also being easy to remove. Such an upgrade might be worth it for you, Anycubic sells them, they call it Ultrabase.
I tried with a regular plastic bed first (they shipped me the wrong bed, apparently they stopped including the glass bed due to shipping issues, so I had to contact them and get them to send me the glass bed afterwards)
I found that very small prints would not stick and would always come loose no matter how much glue (purple glue stick) I used. Larger prints would stick with glue, but sometimes lifted up at the corners, and were very difficult to remove afterwards due to all the glue.
The silicon carbide glass plate just makes the whole 3D printing process a lot more painless. Prints stick as well as or better than they did with a glue stick, but once cooled down below 40C come off easily, though large prints might require some dental floss or getting something else underneath one of the edges to provide some leverage.

I'll move to a glass bed once I get comfortable with printing and get some experience, I see it recommended a lot in the Facebook groups I'm in. I just need to familiarize myself with the different slicers, and eventually setup one of my spare Raspberry Pi 3's for Octoprint.

Be wary of Fry's. I've heard a lot of nightmare stories about the way they don't care for products being sold, the quality thereof, and the like!

Still, you gonna be posting to r/3dprinting!?

If r/3Dprinting is on Reddit, then no. Can't stand Reddit's layout or how it works.

Octoprint is great. Single best 3D printer "upgrade" you can get. But I need to figure out a way to mount the Pi to my printer securely so it's all one piece and the pi camera stays in the correct position. I got M3 T-nuts (can be used to attach things to the extruded aluminium frame) and screws in various sizes from AliExpress, so I should be able to figure out something.

I've seen a few printed Pi mounts for my Ender 3 Pro, so I'll probably just print one of those when the time comes. Alternatively, I could get a real Pi 3 case and some T nuts, mounting it to the frame somewhere.

Same. I think some of them might fit my printer. The design is similar except the base (with the screen and guts) is all enclosed. The issue is just mounting it in a place that won't be in the way of the X or Z axis movement.

I have a Prusa i3 MK3S with OctoPrint + a camera and plenty of filament. I really recommend it.

Oh yeah @Jayro, you'll want to be careful what filament you buy as a lot of the cheaper brands are low quality and actually affect the quality of your prints. I did some research before buying filament, and it turns out HobbyKing is not only pretty much the cheapest filament you can find but it's also of decent quality. Been happy with it so far. They have lots of colors of PLA, ABS and PETG and even some exotic filaments, I've only tried their basic PLA filament though. The eSun brand sold on there and some other places is also supposed to be good. Fry's appears to sell eSun as well, but at a much higher price.
