recommended free ebooks

The campus library has no good books. So, I decided to give eBooks a try.

I got dsLibris, and found out how to convert ebooks into .xhtml (specifically, .rtf to .xhtml. If you know how to convert .prc to .xhtml, it would be much apprecitated!). I then found out that Baen Books has a free eBook library!

Currently I'm reading On Basilisk Station, and I'm liking it so far. I figured I'd share this library with you guys, because it's free and many of the books are actually quite good. They're all in-print modern books and authors, not "classics" like HG Wells or other famous authors from waaay back that nobody cares about anymore :yay:

Anyway, does anyone else know of good free eBook sites, or good free eBooks they'd like to share? Hmm... maybe we should have a topic on this, not just a blog entry :unsure:

moonbooks.net only has a few of those classic books I was talking about. the Baen library has books that are relatively new, and still in-print.

You could just do something like everyone else on the fucking site and download copyrighted shit.

Honestly, it's not at all hard to find a torrent of a popular book.

Why would you want "free ebooks" when you could just get better ebooks "for free"?
If anything, he's asking for book recommendations, which would be a much better placed question in BMV.

I meant legal free ebooks... Last I checked, GBAtemp doesn't condone piracy, so I didn't want to get in trouble.

Also, the eBook sites that have been brought up seem pretty good, but gutenburg is mostly out-of-print books. Classics that only teachers or scholars would want to read... blegh :rolleyes:

Anyone else know of legal eBooks and/or eBook sites that they like?

LOL, fanfiction = FAIL

Most of the authors are terrible, not to mention none of their ideas are original. Thus "fan"fiction. No offense to anyone, but you gotta admit it's usually true ;)

I feel that they are a must for me to be able to properly convey my emotions, because of the difficulty of doing it in text. If you dislike images so much, why don't you just turn them off from loading on your page in the first place?

Or just block me. Avoid my posts completely.
