Random randomness randomly appears.

Im going to keep this really short and basic:

[*]My MicroSD is broken. Got it from ShopTemp last April with my Acekard 2i, and it just stopped working. Doesn't connect to any computers at all. The good news is I backed all of my stuff up so I could put shows on the MicroSD to transfer to another computer. The bad news, I don't have another MicroSD to play my games from. Which sucks even more because I'm dying to play Dragon Quest VI after VIII got my hooked on the series.

[*]My External HDD from Cavalry just randomly stopped working. I can watch stuff off of it, but I can't put stuff on it, or take stuff off. And some files (mainly movies and tv shows), don't work at all and end up crashing the HDD all together.

[*]It's fucking cold here. It's apparently going to be -18 c here tonight. Which is odd considering it never gets that cold here at all. But it's good to see snow when you don't get it for 15 years at a time -_-.

[*]I've gotten back into collecting YuGiOh cards. Me and my friend battled all the time, and I kicked his ass every time. He won 3 times, while I won around the 10+ mark. The reason why I did is because I see some people on eBay buying them at insane prices. And I have another friend who has all the originals, like Yugi's starter deck, Kaiba's, and he has a couple of Pegasus' as well, maybe I can get those off of him.

[*]Dragon Quest VIII, I found out, is a long ass game. I don't know whether it's just me because I'm still not used to the Dragon Quest series. But I'm at Dhoulmagus in the Dark Ruins, I'm level 31 for the hero, Yangus and Angelo are level 30, and Jessica is level 29. I'm trying to kill Liquid Metal Slimes on that island that isn't on the map, but they all run away. Anyways, I'm 75 hours in, and I don't think I'm close to beating it am I?

[*]I've been trying to find Shadow of the Colossus after playing it at my friends. I love that game. But the EB in this town doesn't have a good selection of PS2 games. I'm trying to find that, and the Final Fantasy games. Recommend any other games? I'm more of an Adventure/RPG kind of guy. I'll play the FPS genre from time to time if the game is good. (Though I am not playing Killer 7. I picked that game up. It's too fucked up.)

[*]I'm also trying to get all of my original consoles up and running again. I just need some controllers and the three cords. I have a N64, SNES, Genesis, PSone (the small one), and a PSX (the bigger version).

[*]Been playing some Super Meat Boy. God I love hard platformers. I can't decide if it's harder than IWBTG though. As that game was mainly full of glitches, but it was still buttfucking amazing. And Super Meat Boy is just plain hard. But it's your fault if you die because the game has phenomenal controls.

Their making a remastered/updated bundle of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus for the PS3 soon.

I beat DQ8 and my finish time was about 52 hours. I'm guessing you've spent a lot of time doing needless grinding.

If you want long PS2 RPGs, try and find a copy of Persona 3: FES. Advertised game time on the box is 70+ Hours for the original "The Journey", I think my time was about 80ish. Apparently the new chapter it adds is 30+ hours, but I stopped around 5 hours in, in favour of starting P4.

Ain't got a PS3. Also, the TV I have isn't HD (I picked up a free SDTV so I can play non-hd consoles on it without them looking pixelly even with component cables.)

Uh.. I don't think so. Except for this fight with Dhoulmagus, but that was only to go up one level to get multi-heal. I do get into a lot of fights, like if I want money, or traveling on the sea. But not really grinding. Or if I'm going through a dungeon, and I think I'm too low on health and MP (I don't carry herbs with me), I just escape, heal up, and go through again. That count as grinding?

That counts as grinding for money, escaping to heal and go through the dungeon again just sounds like wasting time.

I never actually remember having a lack of money in that game though. How frequently are you dying?

Died twice. The first boss, the one in that waterfall when you have to get the Crystal Ball. (I'm still not used to the hiked up difficulty of DQ games, whereas FF games, first boss is a sinch). And last night against the second form of Dhoulmagus. I do run low on money all the time, thats why I try to kill Gold Golems on Neos, and sell my alchemized herbs.

Btw, I have the alchemy pot where you can put three items in it. Is there another upgrade? Like in DQIX, they would be finished in an instant. Is that in this game?

Not that I remember, I think the extra slot is the only upgrade. Been a while since I've played it though.

What parts do you need for the consoles. I may be able to help you out I have various cables and controllers laying around.

I also have a few spare 2gig micros. I can spot you one of those if you want one.

Don't have the money to buy them lol. So I'm sort of hoping of coming across a garage sale of some parents that don't know anything, and are willing to sell it for like 3$ lol.

Dude I'll just give it to you let me know what all you need and I'll look at what I have. I'm at work right now so I'm not sure. I just know I have a fair amount of extra cables (video and power for most of the systems listed) and for most of the systems you listed I have some extra controllers.

If you want a 2gig micro just let me know I have spare ones not in use and you can have one if you want.

You're really generous. I feel terrible that I can't offer anything in return :/, well not yet anyways. Not until I move out in a few months into the city with my older brah. Do you want me to just post here the stuff, or PM you or what?

Yeah just post it in here and when I wake up later Saturday afternoon I'll look at what I have extra and post it also.

Edit: working 3rd shift sucks I keep thinking it fucken Thursday.

The Alchemy Pot can get one extra upgrade that I won't go into detail about due to it spoiling certain bonus dungeon things. It allows things to be finished instantly, though you get the upgrade long past when you actually need it.

The beginning of the game does require grinding. That goes without saying. Rushing off to the waterfall cave right away will get you slaughtered horribly. The beginning grind is required in pretty much every DQ game though. Dhoulmagus is a pain in the ass if you aren't ready for the fight. It's a grind point if you aren't prepared. Sitting in the dungeon near the end by the healing spring and leveling is good. If you're under leveled, chances are that the enemies still give good exp. Plus, you can go all out and not worry with a healing spring right next to you. With the boat, you can go to Slime Island (I forget which corner of the map, Google it and you should find out fast enough). It's an unmarked island and has a Platinum Sword to pick up. Metal Slimes and Liquid Metal Slimes aren't as common as most would like, but when they do show up, you can get massive exp.

Remember, critical hit moves are your best friend against all types of Metal Slimes.

The game is also fairly long. Depending on how you allocate your stat points, take advantage of the alchemy pot, and utilize the abilities of your party, the game will either go fairly quickly, or take a long ass time. My brother ended completely, level 99 with every character, skill points allocated for the best set ups (though not completely 100 on all, as skill seed farming sucks ass), and with the extra dungeon very complete with about a total of 210 hours I believe it was. He beat the game in about 120 hours or 150 hours though. It's not a short adventure, so kick back and enjoy the epic journey.

Oh man I know how that is. Because you think it's a different day, your whole body and attitude and energy is out of whack. Like last weekend, I partied on friday, woke up Saturday, but the whole time I thought it was Sunday, so it was my lazy recovering day.

Anyways as you request:

N64
Controllers, the RYW chords or whatever they're called. (I have that brick that plugs in).

PS1/X
Controllers, AC in, AV Multi out? Basically all the chords to hook it up, I have none of them. Though I have the PS2 hooked up, so no idea if I can use those.

I'm not too worried about the SNES and Genesis as they are in storage and have no idea when I can get them or what I even have. I just want to start getting a collection going for the consoles. And obviously games and all that, I can get at garage sales/flea markets/ebay. I could pirate them sure, but it doesn't have that feeling to it.

Any of it, no matter how little would be a great help to me. And as you said, a MicroSD would be great so my DS's aren't collecting dust, but thats your call. If you don't want to donate anything, fine by me. I'm not begging or anything. Every little bit helps. :) Thanks by the way for the offer

I'm pretty sure I have most of what your looking for. You can have it for free it's cool trust me. This shits just sitting around gathering dust and taking up room. 2gig micro is no big deal to me if it was I wouldn't have offered.

You can use the ps2 cables on the psone.

That's a big reason why I want to get this stuff up and running, because it's just collecting dust, and it's a shame, because they're all in phenomenal condition.

I just don't want you to like, have to pay out the ass for shipping or anything like that.

Pff. I think I can afford it bro. Lol. Shipping shouldn't be too much... I'll probably ship it flat rate anyway.

Like you can just shove it all in a shopping bag for all I care, tangles don't bother me. As weird as it is, I think it's a game untangling them, like a puzzle lol.

Thanks a lot man. DEFINITELY appreciated. Believe me :)

For the record, calling the oldest model of the PS1 a PSX is incorrect. Though it has been called that by many people, the term is incorrectly used. There is in fact a PSX console. It was a DVR which played PS1 and PS2 games. It had many overheating problems thus never being released out of Japan and Europe.

Ontopic: That sucks man. I absolutely HATE IT when my data dies out on me. I'm glad I mainly use DVD's to back stuff up instead of Flash memory, though.

Oh I know that it was incorrect, but when EVERYBODY uses that term, suddenly the incorrect, becomes the correct and the norm.

And yeah, I was bummed about it. I mean it'll get the job done if I want to watch something off of it. But when I get the money, I'm going to pick up a 1TB (this is a 500gb), and redownload everything again.
