Parents...

Fuck yeah, another awesome moment with my parents... :glare:
So I told them I was going to get a new PSU for my computah. Dad asked me why, so I replied that I´d need it for a new GPU.
Then my mom asks me how much the PSU´s going to cost, which is around 62 bucks. Then dad asked how much the GPU would cost, which is ´round 150 bucks. Mom then said that it´d almost be a complete new system, to which I said that that one´d be made of crappy components, which is true. Anyway, they ended with some half baked answer that I don´t fucking get. "Yeah well, in a few years/months time you'll get some trouble with your system so oyu'll need a complete new one which will cost money too.". Yeah right, as if I don't know how to avoid problems if I have built my own computer from scratch and have always solved my own problems and those of others too. Let alone that my brother and I are the support poles for if something goes wrong.

TL;DR version: my parents don't want me to buy a new PSU. So, why do they have to decide what I spend my money on!?

Do it secretly. Problem solved.
But thumbs up for still asking your parents about it. It's a sign of good character.

@Panzer Tacticer: seems like I'm the complete opposite of your son, I want lots of stuff but don't have the money for it. :P

@FAST6191: Mom bought that new computer (HP) knowing that my brother and I would be more than willing to build a better and cheaper one. She said that "If I let you guys do et, I'd get something overpriced that's more than I need, and is actually what you two need."

@OSW: I've heard that a lot. You fix something so it's good for a while, but then people see something that's not to their liking and they blame you for it, while it's always been that way. They always ask you to do something saying that "it'll only take a little bit of your time", but you end up staying there for more than three hours because there are more problems that need fixing. When you ask what you're getting for it, you get weird faces looking at it, some people saying "it's your hobby, dude, why do you need a reward!?". Too bad that they don't realise that they'd pay more for a proffessional to come over and fix only one problem.

@Veho: well, I have one friend who's father has a great knowledge of computer's, probably more than mine. I once came over to this friend's place to fix a problem for him, something with a rattling sound, I presumed that it was a cable being hit by a GPU fan. Opened the case, blew some dust away, got a dustblower (pun, it's the Dutch word stofzuiger translated literally, it'd be a vacuum cleaner in correct English :P) and blew some more dust away. Then his dad came and told us that he had bought some thermal paste a while ago. I thought
"Amaaaaaaazing...". Turned out that getting some dust out of the GPU fan fixed the problem.

@Maz7006: I'd still get trouble anyway.

@Infinite Zero: above sentence, kthnxbai. Also, good character? I don't know better than telling my parents what I'm going to do with my money, so they don't suddenly see I'm broke and ask me why I am. And I'm not the only one, my sister and brother also tell them when they want to buy something, so I guess it's just how I was raised with common sense and at least some decency.

Edit: and again, Firefox fucked up my post. :(

Doesn't "zuigen" mean "sucking", not "blowing"? And a stofzuiger would be a dust-sucker, not a dustblower?

Fuck, someone beating me at my own language! Crap, I knew I was wrong somehow somewhere, but I didn't know exactly where and what. :P

Sorry, sorry ^_^ I was just curious, because I know it's "Staubsauger" in German, and "saugen" means "to suck" (and inb4 "hurr porn"; that kind of sucking is called "blasen" :creep: ) So I thought, "Staubsauger", "stofzuiger"... I'm on to something here...

Well, speaking of Hurr porn, giving someone a blowjob, well, you know what they do, they suck.
So, yea Dustblower kinda makes sense.
