OK, so I decided to play through Um Jammer Lammy again on a emulator that doesn't have nearly as many bugs (it's now mednafen instead of PCSX-R) and I completed it.
Then I go into the level select and see a new option at the very end to play through the stages as PaRappa aside from the first one (because it's Lammy's nightmare, not PaRappa's). oh my god i had to play it.
First thing, the song and lyrics are changed. It's oddly easier than the Lammy variant, and it allows for more experimentation.
For example, the dreadful 3rd stage is super-easy
