Need some ideas for my flash homework/project

Anyway, let's just cut it short.

Me and my friends are working on a flash game for our final year. So, this game is supposed to be an edutainment that teaches guys/gals on how to notice: oO, that's a bug. So, of cos, this means that we will be putting bugs in the game on purpose and the user have to find them in order to clear the stage.

For example, in the audio bug stage, the player just have to move around, but when he reached one of the platform, the audio will stop, ta da, audio bug

Well, so far so good, but now i am stuck since i am in charge of creating a level showing backend/support bug and that's the problem, it's backend, any ideas on how to create them so that it is still a tad apparent to the user?

Thanks and i am off visiting google for answers, and thanks guys.

edit: I am using Adobe Flash Professional CS4 just in case anyone is wondering.

err, adobe flash pro cs4 if that makes any differences and thanks mezut360 for replying and guess i should add that to the first post.

The main goal of the game will be finding bugs, but what aspects of the game will the user control? (will there be platforming or enemies?)
One of my ideas is for the HUD to display the incorrect health levels or the incorrect time at a certain point in the stage. I think this would be a sign of a backend bug, but I'm not sure.

The first Prehistorik game had a weird bug in the last level. There was this ladder you had to climb, and if you tried to climb back down, the sprite would get stuck and the game would freeze. Not all that obvious, but a great example of a bug.

you could make a anyoying spider man bug if you chose platformer

as in when your character touch the side of an object it can jump again even tough u want it to jump once

Thanks Veho, mezut360 for the suggestions

There will be some platforms for the player to jump on, they will basically just be using their arrow keys, left and right to move, up to jump.
As for enemies, nope, don think there will be enemies.

Hmm, i might have to create an new HUD just for this level, if that is the case, but probably the enemies would just be spikes or something static.
edit: when i read it, it sounds more like a frontend bug, something that user will know immediately.
wat do you mean by backend?
i myself am not exactly sure about it, since most of the examples or results that i found suggested that it could be something like say, user inputted some data but it was never registered or maybe an error occured but the program doesn't catch that. Mostly stuff that the user probably will never notice.

Anyway, i will just write these ideas down and think about them.

I sorta get what you're trying to achieve, but I don't know how you would let the user understand it in an enjoyable way. :/
You could have it like, the user plays through the platformer game, and when they notice a bug, they hit the 'B' key!
If there actually is a bug when they hit the key, they gain a point, and get told what the bug is.
If there isn't a bug when they hit the key, they lose all their points, and they have to start again! o:

@ turtle, ya, our supervisor and us had decided on making a stage where the player just goes around the stage and when they find the bug, they could press esc and they will enter a quiz to test their knowledge, after that they will be transported to another room where some npc will be telling the player what was the bug that they had found and some other info(not sure on this, since this is getting work on by my friend).

Just curious, are you using a premade platformer engine, or writing your own?
Also, AS2 or AS3? o:

i'm also currently making a game if you want i could send it to you (right now im on another computer)

give them some BSODs. :creep:

well you can do movement glitches etc i guess, like when changing direction the sprite/model stays in the first intended direction (ala moon walking lol)

hmm, or i could just make it lag by adding items without removing them.. hmmm

Thanks pika for the idea.

thanks mezut360 for them, those should make some pretty good reference materials.

edit: hate to doublepost but haha, looks like my friend is the one working on the backend stage, so i am now working on the game logic bug/bad game level design instead :D
