My mom's hamster died

It's been a bad day, she's been crying all day long poor guy went into cardiac arrest minutes after she handed him over to the vet. Poor little guy.

Not to sound rude but why a hamster? They tend to have short life spans and to get emotionally attached to an animal thats going to die in about two years is tough. I mean a pet is family you want your family to live as long as possible therefore you should choose a pet that can live a decent amount of time. IDK, maybe its why I can't have any pets, I would never get over the fact that I would eventually outlive it.
