My disappointments with the Nintendo Switch, as a (ex) Nintendo fan

I owned all of the Gameboy line. I got a Nintendo DS day-one and a Nintendo 3DS as well, at a price point where the majority of Nintendo 3DS users have not spent. I also owned a Wii that allowed me to play both Wii and GC games. Just a premise.

I will happily skip the Game Boy and the Game Boy Color. Although they had their strong competition, they couldn't do anything to compare. I will also skip the Game Boy Advance because, even though I still think that selling an advanced console without any sort of backlight is criminal, they made multiple versions of a version with light.

The Nintendo DS is my favorite console I grew up with. A big complain I had were cheaters. They were EVERYWHERE and ruined any online game. Games like Metroid Hunters, with a very promising online play, were destroyed by cheaters. You could no longer have fun unless you went into some random forums and play with people you were trusting not to use cheats. Another big complain I have was the console's incompatibility with WPA-protected routers. You had to buy a DSi and play DSi-enchanted games to finally play with WPA. Whatever, I still loved the console.

Then the 3DS was announced and we were promised a lot of things. There was a HUGE list of games that were supposed to come out during the first year and we were also promised graphics much better than the PSP, other than a great 3D experience. These were the problems:

- Console was 249.99 euros
- We were told to buy it now while the price is as it is because it would have gone up
- When the console came out, there were no good games. Just those placehold games to keep yourself busy while waiting for something big to come up
- No eShop
- No internet browser
- We STILL have friend codes to deal with??
- The only game worth waiting for in 2011 was Starfox 3D. A remake of a not-so-successful game
- The 3D effect is great, but you could only see it clearly if you didn't move an inch
- No second analog
- Hardware problems, like the bottom screen hitting the upper one, damaging the screen
- Cameras were trash
- No video playback
- No GBA virtual console

If it weren't for the backwards compatibility with DS games, I would have never supported this console this early. Eventually the games showed up and I started loving it again.
But then the Wii U came out and Nintendo wanted to cripple the console to push people into buying more Wii U. Example? The 3DS version of Mario Maker is a joke.

Regardless of these problems, I've always played and supported Nintendo games and was really looking forward to the Switch. These are my problems with it:

- FRIEND CODES AGAIN???
- Still the hardware damaging itself
- Still the lack of games at launch and nothing in the following months
- No voice chat unless you use a complicated way to
- Awful internal storage
- Expensive
- No internet browser (lol)
- No touchscreen (my mistake, it has it. You can stop writing OMG THE TOUCHSCREEN IS THERE!!11 I SHOWED HIM LOL)
- A highly controversial online pay service even though Nintendo is famous for not giving a damn about online play

I'm sorry, but I stopped supporting new Nintendo consoles. They just can't keep with times. They are making toys, that's it. The only reason for me to buy a Switch would be if they announce a new PMD game. In the meantime, I will wait for the obligatory Nintendo New Switch in two years.

@StarTrekVoyager POTATO MASHOOOOOR #PCMR FTW, proving that the switch isn't worth the price, just cuz it's nintendo doesn't make it special, same shit applies to apple products.

I've actually got a i5-760 that I used before I upgraded to a i5-6600, it bottlenecks a lot of modern games badly, I wouldn't recommend it or the i5-750 at all. I'd advise waiting for Ryzen 3, if anything.

Jesus, people will find literally ANY way to bash Nintendo. First of all, with the 3DS...
No video playback
There are downloadable videos on the eShop, videos that you can watch on the eShop, and there used to be a service called Nintendo Video which has since merged with the eShop.
No internet browser
The internet browser was available in an update shortly after launch.
Hardware problems, like the bottom screen hitting the upper one, damaging the screen
When was this? This never happened to me. Are you sure about this?
No GBA virtual console
3DS ambassadors (people who adopted the console early in it's life) had access to 10 GBA VC titles downloaded from the eShop.
The eShop was available in an update shortly after launch.

Now for the Switch...
A highly controversial online pay service even though Nintendo is famous for not giving a damn about online play
Sure, this is the first time that we're paying for Nintendo's online service, but at least it's cheaper than Xbox Live and PSN. Where did you get that they don't give a damn about online play? Did you get it from that they actually keep game servers up 24/7 and never have they gotten compensation for that until now?
Expensive
Well, the console did release just a few months ago. GIVE IT SOME TIME.
Awful internal storage
At least it has internal storage at all. I remember that there was a time when games were stored on big, bulky cartridges and consoles had no internal storage whatsoever.
Still the hardware damaging itself
That's user error. They're sliding it into the dock forcefully, and they aren't using a screen protector.
Still the lack of games at launch and nothing in the following months
Let's see here...
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
ARMS
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Sonic Mania
Sonic Forces
Super Bomberman R
Splatoon 2
Super Mario Odyssey

Yeah, try again, friend.
No voice chat unless you use a complicated way to
Hey, at least there's voice chat at all. Worst case scenario is Nintendo could have opted for no voice chat whatsoever.
No touchscreen (my mistake, it has it. You can stop writing OMG THE TOUCHSCREEN IS THERE!!11 I SHOWED HIM LOL)
Next time, look at the specs before you decide to shit on a console.

I think that covers it. STOP TRYING TO SHIT ON NINTENDO. We don't care if you think that PlayStation, Xbox, or PC is Master Race. Stop trying to start console wars.

@sks316.
in the following months refers in the next 3-4 months (close to the release date), no great games were available exclusively on the switch, NONE.
FFS the launch titles are as bad as the WiiU's launch titles and we know how much that console flopped.

@_v3 He should have pointed that out in the OP. It was a poor choice of words if he meant 3-4 months since all he said was "in the following months." That could mean the next 9-10 months. No great games exclusively on the Switch? He never said exclusively on the Switch.

@sks316 the original 3DS had a design flaw. The rubber feet in the top screen weren't properly spacing the bottom and top when the console was closed. So the bottoms screen's bezel was rubbing the upper screen causing scratches. It was a widely known issue that was fixed a few months later. The temporary fix was rubber feet off the bottom of an Xbox 360.

@_v3 it's great to have an opinion no? The games weren't bad it's just that there weren't enough.

@Logan97 If the console was sold as early access then sure no one should complain but this was supposed to be a complete experience. It should have been released in 2018.
