My car's delinquent Part 3

For those who remember my last car's adventures, here is PART3!

Two years ago (2010), someone broke into my car repetitively (6 times in 1 year).

After I went to police station many times to report my car being opened by someone, and where he stole the gear's ball twice, he finally got caught.
In march 2011, I then placed a report against him once they gave me his name.

And yesterday I finally got an answer from the court! :O
They are summoning me in one week, on may 29th 2012, to see children's judge.
I have to send back the letter to confirm it. It took one week for me to receive it according to the writing date, I hope they will receive mine in time.

It took them one year to finally take an action, and they ask me one week before the date!?
justice is slow but they could at least inform people more than one week before the judge meeting.

I don't know what will happen now. I'll see it next week.

I don't know if I'll have money back for the repairs (which is a lot to pay for a children...)
At least, he never did it again on my car since he got caught.

Glad that your car is being left alone ;o

Must be awful D;

But don't be soft on him.
It's just another scumbag criminal thief.

I don't know if I just need to be present, or if I'll have to expose the facts and tell what I think about him.
I don't know either if I'll be alone with the judge, with judge+him in the same room, in a court-like room with everyone else, etc.

They just ask "come to this place on may 29th, 9h45AM, to be heard as a victim from the case ........".
I love being left ignorant...

It will be a surprise.
And I need to take a day off from work too.

I've had the weirdest case of someone breaking in my car. All they would ever take is trash. And it's not like I keep all my extreme valuables in my car, only thing usually in my car is trash, CDs, 6ft Aux cable, and if I forget them in the car $80 headphones. But all they took was just the trash...

Eventually I caught the guy in the act and his exact words were: "Do you have any idea how filthy your car is?". Turns out he has OCD and he walks past my car in the school parking lot every day, sees the trash in my car, and has to clean it. It was pretty funny.

aha, that sure was funny.
A compulsive cleaner.

Though, it's always bad to see your personal possession being opened or theft. :(

least they got him

his parents will most likely be there with him
so they will hopefully pick up the cost

So, today I went to see the children judge.

Over the 6 other victims, we were only 2 present, so he got charged only for 2 cases and not 6.
The kid was there with his mother and his advocate.
He is still minor (will be major in July this year).

We couldn't really speak, all the speaking was done by the judge to the kid.

Apparently, he still continue doing it even after he was caught.
He doesn't seems to understand the gravity of his acts, he was just passive. Not reacting. He don't know what to do in life, nor has any interest. He is out of school system for 2 years now. His mother said she is overflowed by his comportment and can't manage him correctly.
The judge tried to explain to him that he is guilty and should usually go to jail, but as she didn't read all the testimony before the meeting, she didn't know how important it was. She said if she knew, it would have been on a real court and not in her office, with real sentence to jail. He wouldn't have quit the court freely.

Though, the kid didn't seem like a bad guy to me.
He looked like a kind kid, just not understanding what's happening to him nor understanding why he acted like that. He didn't seems to understand that what he did was bad.

Also, he wasn't doing it alone, he said "We did it" in his testimony, but I don't know who is the other person.
I don't know why he did it.
I couldn't talk to him or her mother.
I couldn't even talk about all the other cases (he opened my car 6 times in one year, but was judge based on 2 of them only, the only 2 he confessed, even though the method was the same all the time)

I don't know if it's the end yet.
There might be another appearance on a court in few months, and I might be summoned again.

At least, (thanks for being present) the other victim and myself will be reimbursed by his mother's civil insurance for the material degradation of our cars. Around 700€ for me, and 1200€ for the other person.

That's not only a physical degradation, it's also psychological.
Every morning, I'm wondering if the car is still here, opened or closed, if things are stolen or not, etc.
He could (and seems to) do it again.
