first 2D zelda game i ever played and wow... i loved it
i prefer the gba graphics over ds ones and i really loved how this game looked, how it felt, the aesthetics and the homey vibes. i really loved the music, the minish npcs design especially, the dungeon designs i thought looked very cool also i really loved it
my only problem with it is that it is absolutely unsolvable without a guide. why do i need to go to a random house on the minish village to trigger the story of the library all the way back in hyrule town? same with having to go to the swamp to realize that you need the boots, instead of just getting the boots on your own. i really didn't like this types of restrictions.
i also liked the kinstones i know some people don't but i felt that i wasn't really consequential to the game (that is, because i was playing with a guide at bay, if i wasn't so quick to look up stuff when i get a little stuck for 30 seconds i could see how it'd get frustrating). i also agree with the common opinion that the game really needed a notebook or something link could use to keep track of the kinstones.
also capcom you got me fucked up if you think im gonna roll for all of those 130 figurines i did it likes 10 times and immediately got tired
as i reread this i think anyone who stumbles upon this blog entry can already see that im a person with short patience and i enjoy more aspects of games like adventures than puzzles which is why it's no surprise that i really loved this game's dungeons. i've heard that they're more easy and linear than average but really i felt like it was perfect for this type of game. i liked that i didn't have to spend 40 minutes backtracking and racking my brain for answers. is it very lineal? maybe. is it simple? maybe. is it bad design? no. i felt like these dungeons were more of a journey than a puzzle kind of dungeons and i really liked it. i loved the scenery and almost every boss was incredibly fun (there are just so many times i can fight the knights before getting annoyed).
in short;
likes: the story, the villain, the art style and music, the dungeons, the minish
dislikes: not having a record of kinstones, the restrictions and some bosses (especially the octorok, the ice chuchu and the knights)
