Just gonna dump some interesting looking lizards here I found. Would be cool to have one of these, if they're even available as pets.

Those are at least docile and have a history of being illegally caught and traded in South Africa, but are not currently considered endangered (though they have been in the past due to larger amounts of illegal trading which had to be cracked down on), and can supposedly be found in some pet stores, so I guess I don't see much wrong with keeping them as pets, as long as not everyone goes out and buys one making them endangered again... They are fucking awesome looking though. But maybe best enjoyed through your computer screen unless you really really want one and it has to be that specific type. If I was planning on getting a lizard and saw one of those in a pet store I know I'd probably pick it but if I couldn't find one near me I wouldn't go out of my way to find one.

tl;dr Lizards are fucking awesome and as a big fan of anything with dragons this is the closest you can get to actually having a real dragon. Totally understand why people keep them as pets instead of a cat or a dog. Maybe one day I'll end up getting one.

Congrats on the new Lizard friend! A friendly heads-up though, you might want to look at replacing the sand at the bottom of the terrarium as it can impact your lizard both negatively and literally. A good cheap solution would be Paper Towels as it won't leave debris in the lizard's food, or tangle in its claws.
