Kidney Stones pt 3

Going to the emergency 2 nights ago and I was hurting very badly... So, my Urologist insisted on surgery.

Having surgery was one of the most horrible experiences.

The Anastasia that gave me, paralyzed my bladder temporarily and I couldn’t pee, and it was backing up and causing a lot of pain and they had to insert a catheter and I peed over a quart of urine, which is 32 ounces… More than 32 ounces is what came out of me. :( It was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. It hurts like hell is pee now.

Well, I have to go... The stint they put inside me is bothering me... :(

Just sitting here makes the stint hurt and my pee hole (the urethra) hurts when pressure is on it. So I have to lie down constantly to feel any relief just from the urethra hurting... Not to mention my back hurts a lot of the time too.

i pray for you :grog:

Thats funny. I didn't know they showed Disney movies to kill the pain. They usually cause pain for me.

You meant anaesthesia. But thats ok =) I am very sorry to hear about your sufferings. I remember the original kindey stone post, and probably one before that one.

And darkrey...I'm pretty sure your last suggestion would be really painful. And also impossible, since she is female. and last I checked....

oh the irony

joujou you didn't say whether the surgery was a success (as in whether they were able to remove all stones) - if so it seems you've done the hard part even if it doesn't feel like it :P

Thanks guys!

LOL PBC!!! I didn't even realize I spelled anesthesia wrong... I was sooo drugged up when I wrote this. They had me on a morphine pump and I was getting 1 mg of morphine every 6 minutes.... Haha.

Oh, yes... It went very well. The kidney stone was stuck in the ureter very close to the bladder and when the doctor went in there and started to take it out, it dropped by itself in the bladder, which is very rare because most of the time they have a hard time getting the stones out... Woo for me! But still, it hurts like a bitch.

It burns like hell when I pee, and it burns like hell even when I'm not peeing. It hurts just to sit here, or anywhere for that matter... And my back hurts really bad because there is a stint that goes from the kidney all the way down to the bladder. :(

Quoted from another post:
Hehe... I was on a morphine pump dammit! I was getting 1 mg of morphine every six minutes... I'm surprised I could even type at all. I don't even remember making that post. I have an excuse why I spelled anesthesia wrong. :P

I am still on pain medication, just not morphine anymore. I am on oxycodone now.

EDIT: Orc, I think that's my favourite avatar of yours... It's nice.
Both are very addicting. But I guess you really need it. I have a friend who has kidney stones too, I'd tell him your story. :ODamn, I want some Percocet now.
Thanks I like my avatar too.

Take note boys and girls, this is what happens when you put shit in your body every day and don't drink enough water.

DUDE. i know that sucks. theyr was a kid on my floor here at college who started having pains EXACTLY two days ago. so i got up and asked him if he had a name on here. (i was like "i could be on the same floor as a fellow temper!) no such luck...

well get better man. my dad had one. he said it hurt so bad he just wanted to die. And my friends dad said hes had 2! youch!

You don't know anything about kidney stones... Kidney stones are not just caused from "putting shit in your body and not drinking enough water"... You're an idiot. Seriously.

You're not a Urologist, so I don't think you can make a fair assumption as to the cause of kidney stones... Look it up some time, you'll see that there are many causes for getting kidney stones, and to find out why you need to run some blood tests and urine tests. Ever think that it could be genetic? Ever think that maybe other people in my family have the same problem? I don't eat a shit diet like you are suggesting.

Sorry to hear about the kidney stones. Hope you get better.

I was just about to ask how one gets kidney stones? I drink like 3 Dr. Pepper aday... Is it already too late for me? What do you recommend? I heard water and cranberry juice help to flush your system.

Don't let Urza scare you... Drinking soda is horrible for your health, but that doesn't mean it's going go cause kidney stones. There are some people in this world who drink soda like you should be drinking water, and they don't get kidney stones. That doesn't mean it's good for them, but "putting shit in your body everyday and not drinking enough water" is not the sole cause of kidney stones. Urza is not a Urologist, or a medical doctor for that matter, so I don't think he has any grounds whatsoever to say that is the reason for kidney stones. If that was the reason, then everyone who eats a poor diet would have kidney stones.

Tea can cause kidney stones, foods enriched in oxalate like:

Blackberries
Blueberries
Grapes, Concord
Currants, red
Dewberries
Figs, dried
Gooseberries
Kiwi
Lemon peel
Lime peel
Orange peel
Raspberries, red and black
Rhubarb
Strawberries
Tangerines
Beans, green, waxed, dried
Baked beans in tomato sauce, canned
Nuts
Peanuts
Pecans
Garbanzo beans, canned
Peanut butter
Sesame seeds
Soybean curd (tofu)
Sunflower seeds
All soy products
Beets - tops, roots, greens
Celery
Collards
Dandelion greens
Eggplant
Escarole
Green beans, snap, pod, runner
Kale
Leeks
Okra
Parsley
Parsnips
Peppers, green
Pokeweed
Popcorn (4 cups, popped) (Orville Redenbacher) Potatoes
Potatoes, sweet
Pumpkin
Rhubarb
Rutabagas
Sorrel
Spinach
Squash, yellow, summer
Swiss chard
Tomato sauce, canned
Turnip greens
Watercress
Yams

Does this list sound like "shit you put in your body every day"? My stones are made of oxalate/calcium, which means I need to stay away from almost all fruits and vegetables, but I still eat the fruits and vegetables on the list because I can't live my life without them.

SO, URZA.... TELL ME, WHERE ON THIS LIST DO THESE FOODS FALL UNDER THE CATEGORY OF "SHIT"?

Oh, and here is a list of other foods...

Oxalate enriched foods

I don't see much on that list that is "shit"...

It appears that there are more foods that are medium and high oxalate enriched than low oxalate enriched, and look at that... Coca-cola and other sodas is under the low oxalate list... Curious.

I don't drink soda much and I'd consider it to be shittier than the fruits and vegetables that are high in oxalate that I can't eat.

Don't mind him, he seems to enjoy trying to act funny and smart, you'll get used to it.

Joujoudoll, don't let what anyone says get to you. Just because someone's an urzologist, doesn't necessarily give that person the credibility of a urologist ;)

I've read all of your kidney stone posts, and I really do feel for you. It pisses me off when people chime in with stupid uneducated comments like "durrr me don't get it is kidnee stonz like rocks comming outta yer butt or somefin?" or when people try to make snide, know-it-all comments when you're clearly in physical pain. Some of the healthiest people I know have had kidney stones, so it's impossible to avoid them, they just sort of happen, like cancer. Scary stuff.

I hope you get through this ordeal soon. Hang in there.

Joujoudoll, I hope you feel better soon. Kidney stones are the worst :(

at least you have some decent pain killers though. they hardly gave me anything :(
