Just rebuilt my PC with twice the RAM and a new case.

My girlfriend was buying parts for me to build her a new gaming PC, and she was kind enough to give me a case and more RAM as a 'thank you'. So here's my new gaming PC, fleshed out in RGB. I also added a USB 3.0 hub on the back, since the case window faces me and ports on the front and back are sparse.

Special thanks to @shaunj66 for the free Tempy magnet!

I love the rainbow puke lighting everywhere, I've never had it before so I went all-out. I'm easily entertained by colored lights. So is my girlfriend, you should see the setup I just built for her:

@Jayro I've always wanted to set up RGB in a sort of way that sync'd up with whatever you want for both in and outside of the PC, be it music or whatever!

@Jayro Yeah, that's exactly what I was talking about. In my opinion, that just looks..."ugh, why?" - it's distracting, it's unneeded, white light would illuminate things enough without being an absolute eyesore.

I just can't understand the fascination with constantly-changing colours.

Aside from that incomprehensible annoyance, the setup looks quite good, honestly - though why not have the case on the floor, so you've got more desk room?

My girlfriend's setup is cool because I have her case fans synced to whatever pattern she sets for the infinity mirror, instead of the motherboard's sync. And computers that look good don't EVER belong on the floor... *scoffs*

That's for beige-box builds... computers you don't care about getting kicked, filled with dust, etc. My computers never go on the floor... Ridiculousness.

As an ex dj/raver...... That is freakin awesome... Get the lights out!!!

And any pc should NEVER, EVER be on the floor unless you want it to be filthy inside. There's a reason we have vacuum cleaners and mops wink wink!

What exactly do you do with 32GB of RAM? OwO
I have 16- and I... Never actually check how much is used when I do anything

I use a shitload of RAM in my large Photoshop projects, and I also keep a portable version of Photoshop CC "installed" on a RAMdisk. When Windows boots up, it loads the RAMdisk image from the NVMe into ram, mounts it as drive P:/ and it sits there ready for me to use. I get 12,200MB/s~ reads, and about 8,400MB/s writes. I also have Minecraft Java edition installed to my M:/ RAMdisk. I'd go 64GB if I could afford it, trust me.

@Mr. Looigi Well, it's either as @Jayro outlined, or as a backup in case a game seriously wants to use that much RAM in the future, AKA futureproofing, or, as JayzTwoCents prefers to call it, future compatibility!

I always go slightly more overkill than I need, except for graphics. That usually just boils down to what the best nvidia card is that I can buy for my $300 budget. (I never spend more than $300 on a CPU or GPU, just my personal guideline of performance to money ratio)

@Jayro There's also the factor of the video card being one of the easier parts in a PC build to swap out than, say, a CPU or a motherboard.

When I pushed the turbo button on my old Intel Pentium Overdrive chip, it would change the frequency from 66Mhz to 99MHz. (It actually went to 100MHz, but the led display only had 2 digits)

And the turbo button actually either ran normal full speed, or under locked to 66MHz. So it was a bit of a white lie in terms of how it really worked, lol.

@Richard I used the game Carmageddon as my test bench game because it's fully 3D-rendered using DOS software rendering. The chip normally runs at 100MHz at all times. The turbo button just underclocked the chip, and would make the game run sluggish at 66MHz. Old computers were weird. But then again, those 486 Pentium Overdrive chips were weird too, in the sense that they came out when the 486 socket was dying off for a Pentium socket. It was a chip to help those with old 486 SX/DX computers get one final upgrade, and give them a taste of what a Pentium 90 (or better) could offer. To bridge the upgrade gap, so-to-speak.

@The Real Jdbye I'm considering the 3070 hardcore, but I might wait for rev 2, when they get all these power delivery problems sorted out and the prices might go down by then.

Speaking of meatballs, what's the deal with meatball sandwich? How can people eat those? It's ROUND. Trying to bite those in a sandwich is a challenge. It's easier to eat a burger stacked with toppings. :ninja:
