Just bought...

Just bought the micro SD card to memorystick pro adaptor. Don't be mad at me because it is not a legit card. But i will just put 2 eight gig micro sd cards in it to make a 16 gig card. So ya. Hope i wasn't ripped off.

FYI; I bought one from DX for the lulz. I was like, "HEY! IT WORKS! ^_^" And I started playing Monster Hunter. Two seconds after loading my save, the PSP crashed.

"Ok. Whatever..."

Restart. The memory card is unreadable. I try everything; nothing. Lucky I had all my data on my original stick still.

Does it depend on the firmware? Friend of mine has a PSP 200x (I forget the exact version), and this adapter works fine on it. But some people seem to have problems with it. Dunno.

Firmware does not matter. it's the issue with the memory card not properly supporting MagicGate (MS data protection feature) that REAL memory sticks have.

Buying fake MS and adaptors like these sometimes claim to have MagicGate, but they DON'T. ONLY official cards do. NOT just Sony; Sandisk and Lexar are examples of good brands too.

Just because your friend has not had issues doesn't mean he won't. Look at it this way...

Would you rather pay 10 dollars for a Micro SD+ 2 for the adpater for a 8 GB MS or 16-20 for a REAL 8 GB when the real one will ENSURE data to be kept if you maintain it?

I think my 400+ hours in Monster Hunter are worth the investment of 5-6 extra dollars, if you ask me. There are some things you can't cut corners on if you wanna take it seriously; quality is important.

It shouldn't from what I understand. I have one and it works perfectly though I do use an actual memory stick.

OP, good luck at filling your MSPD up, I have issues putting game on my 4GB.

Because we care too much?

The main advantage of the adapter is that it lets you use cards you might already have. Everything uses microSD cards these days, so it's a choice between paying $20 for a Memory Stick Duo or $2 for an adapter that would let you use a card you already have at home.

And the whole point is kinda moot nowadays. The adapter made sense back when an 8GB MS Duo was $50-60 (and the adapter was a whopping $4), when the ability to use a card you already owned would have saved you more it does today.
