Insomnia?

Recently, I've been having A LOT of trouble sleeping, at least until it's like 530-6am.

Which bugs me because I don't like going to bed that late.I like the 12-1 am thing. And I want to get off this pattern. It also sucks because when it comes time to hanging out with friends or whatever, it's weird me either being in bed when they're awake, or me being awake when they're in bed. So it throws the whole day out of whack. Like tomorrow, supposed to be going to my buddy's place around 9, now I don't think I will because it's 2:30 am and I'm still awake and not tired at all.

Any idea on how to get some sleep? Usually I fall asleep with Toy Story running in the background on my computer (monitor turned off) and so I can just barely hear the movie, and I sleep directly in front of a fan so my face is nice and cold. And I have no lights on in my room, but for some reason it's not working.

And no I don't have sleeping pills or anything, and I don't want to use them because I could get addicted to them. Maybe there's something on my mind that's bugging me?

change your sleeping patterns

force yourself to sleep earlier a little bit a time

first sleep at like 5:00, then sleep earlier like 30 minutes or something
do it gradually

if you think its because of something in your head then talk to someone about it, people will never know unless you speak out

Well I would suggest you go and see a doctor :).
Also yes, if there is something bothering you, or you are thinking about(expectations, something you want, wishes) its also hard to sleep.

I have been suffering from this for a very long time. Not only Insomnia, but also Sleep Paralysis.

edit: changing sleeping patterns might help too. If you cant sleep one day, just skip and try to regulate it from the next day on. Weird suggestion but it works because you will be really tired the next night ;).

The thing is though, I don't know what could be bugging me. I'm loving life and I've never been happier.

But it's hard to force myself to sleep. I get too warm (yes even with my window open), and I start getting cranky and pissed off.

Well, you might want to discuss with a doctor then.
If you arent tired at all, then just pull out a all nighter or two. Eventually you will be tired and should be able to sleep.

Thats what I did. I pulled out a few all nighters and then I was so tired that I coudnt hold my eyes open in the bus on my way to college :P. At night before going to sleep, I went for a long walk. That helped :)

BUT then again, sleep paralysis.. that problem is worse than not being able to sleep.

It could be a medical problem or It could be that your body is just getting used to your new cycle of sleeping and waking. I found that reading in bed in the dark with a small light cause's me to get extremely tired even If I am not and don't want to go to sleep and sometimes I even wake up with the little light still on and the book on me If I didn't throw It aside before drifting off. Should also be noted that I don't like to read books which helps. I also find reading specific books that have been translated to English like the King James Bible will knock me out in a matter of minutes because of the way It's worded or something. Some people find knowledge or understanding from reading the Bible, I find sound sleep that works every-time.

Don't force yourself asleep. Just think of nothing. Watch TV or a movie on your computer, then just let your eyelids get tire. Works for me. I have a lot of difficulty sleeping when I THINK about sleeping or when I try forcing myself. Whenever the word 'sleep' pops into my head, it's basically means I'm going to be sleeping late.
