I really like anime.

Like, I started watching Code Geass, and I think it's just, like, the best series I've ever watched. The story was just so deep. I mean, better than any American show I've ever watched.

Shakraka told me to try Boku no Pico, and some of my other friends told me to watch Legend of the Blue Wolves.

Is there anything else I should watch?

Comments

I think you might like One Piece. It really depends. Either you'll hate it or love it. I love it. It's long, but quite good. Google for it since it's been licensed.

Also, Gurren Lagann is great too. I also like Shaman King and Hitman Reborn is also really good. Neon Genesis Evangelion is also good if you like mecha.

I'm the guy with the previous list :P

I like tsubasa and holic too but I didn't bold them, as it seems I missed some story parts and make it difficult to follow. I'm sure the manga have the missing chapters.

Elfen Lied, Wolf's Rain, and, if you're up for some serious over-the-top-ness, Needless.

Code Geass was awesome (favorite show so far).
If you liked it, then you'll definitely like Death Note.

Yep, if you liked Code Geass you will love Death note, some other i'v been watching/started on lately:

Arakawa under the Bridge, hilarious anime about a guy who gets saved by a homeless woman and as repayment is forced to live with her and her unusual friends

Durarara! Amazing anime, it ends in two or three weeks so you can probably do a whole run through of it aswell, it's from the same people as Baccano! so it's a must-watch

Fairy Tail despite the name, it's one of my favourite animes currently airing, typical shonen but I love it

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood you definitely need to watch this sometime, I would advise watching this before the original show as this one is much better

Katanagatari, airs monthly but it's great, I love the art style aswell

Senkou no Night Raid too awesome to explain

these are just a few, I have way too many to list, if you like these check out some more that i'v watched in my MAL ;)

You should try Bleach, FairyTail, Inuyasha, and DeathNote.

Maybe Naruto, but it is overrated nowadays.

Most of the people who have posted thusfar have really bad taste.

Funny, ALL of those shows are overrated.

How is Naruto overrated?

I wouldn't recommend watching the anime, as it detracts a lot from the writing techniques Masashi Kishimoto uses in the manga, such as alliteration, symbolism, fore-shadowing, etc.

I hate how people diss out Naruto without even looking into everything. As a standalone literary piece it is probably one of the finest I've read in awhile.

*looks at above list*

FLCL...highly overrated.

I actually know about these and support them as awesome (or at least...these ones stand out xD)!

paranoia agent had an amazing story to me. detective conan is my favorite anime.

if you want to watch a great movie, check out spirited away.
isn't detective Conan boring after few episodes or read volumes of the manga ?
as it's always the same things, and it last forever (580 episodes) of "I'm a young detective, better than adults, but I make people think it's adult who are solving the cases, and there's no suspense because I always win"
i could spend all day watching DC. you know in some ones
he actually turns into an adult right :P

You have to watch FMA before FMA:B because FMA:B fails to explain a lot of things that were present at the beginning of the manga. Really, the best way to experience FMA is to just read the manga,

And yes, Naruto is overrated. People like yourself seem to think that it's amazing, but no, it's shit, just flat out shit. I'm not even talking about the anime or the manga specifically, the whole world, the characters, the plot, the fights, every single fuckin' part of it is just BAD. Hell, even Bleach is better than Naruto and that sucks too. But it's understandable that you can't see this, you clearly have no knowledge of anime at all. I can't really fault you for being ignorant when you simply haven't seen anything good. Why not check out that list I posted? Surely you can find something well-written in there that will make you realize your error in thinking Naruto is anything more than shit :)

I'm gonna ruin your arguments by adding my own for Elfen Lied... again.
You're focusing on the naked part too much. Seriously, you won't even pop a boner watching the show. It's not sexual, it's just got violence and a storyline that will make you cry on the final episode (if you don't, you're not a real man)
Seriously.
It's like 13 episodes, what have you got to lose?

I don't know... I mean, I'm watched a little bit of the first episode, but I feel really uncomfortable.

Elfen Lied is just too offensive for some people, chill out.
It's not that great of a show anyway.

This is just your opinian, just because YOU think this doesn't make it so.
Personally I love Naruto, I love everything in it, I love the characters, the world, the story, just everything about it is really amazingly great.
It's not just about a few characters, it's about all of them. They each have their own role to play but everythings connected, there's not just the characters the entire world Naruto is based in feels alive and feels like part of the story, it's not just a place that's there end of, it IS part of the story.

So you saying "OMG NARUTO IS SHIT, YOU NOOB AND LOSER!!!" (pretty much to that effect) is complete bullcrap and pisses me off.
Saying we clearly have no knowledge of anime at all ois also bullcrap. YOU clearly don't know very much about opinians and how each and every INDIVIDUAL PERSON is DIFFERENT, they like and dislike DIFFERENT things but ofcourse your still going to find people with similar tastes, the worlds a big place.

I will agree with you in saying I don't like Bleach either but I wouldn't say it sucks or it's shit because view ratings clearly say otherwise and would make you completely and me completely wrong, I just simply don't like it it's not my thing and that's my opinian.

I haven't found very many anime that even come close to Naruto in terms of keeping me gripped and feeling the rush and excitement that Naruto does.
The only anime I've found coming close so far:
Inazuma Eleven - I just love it, it's a great anime well written with lovable characters and I enjoy it thoroughly. (wish it was subbed faster though >,,<)
Eureka Seven - watched the entire series, I enjoy most of it. Very few parts bored me but the rest kept me quite entertained.
Hunter X Hunter - again lovable characters, decent story I didn't find an episode throughout the series that bored me.
Basquash! - Anime about Robotic Basketball, I have to say I enjoyed this thoroughly not a moment went by were I wanted to switch it off and do something else. The characters are funny and well made and the little bits of ecchiness that is thrown in just made it even more enjoyable and a good laugh.
TOKKO - I have to say this anime I feel is too short, but it is a very very well made anime in my opinian.
Air Gear - WHY DID THEY STOP MAKIG THIS!!!! seriously one of my all-time favourite anime and they stopped producing the show :( the ending they gave just isn't enough and I'm not a great fan of reading manga myself.

That's all I can really think of, either way these anime I thoroughly enjoy or enjoyed my top 3:
1. Naruto
2. Inazuma Eleven
3. Air Gear

Air Gear, despite me loving this anime so much it gets 3rd place in my top 3 because the show didn't really end and left me wanting more.

Again like I said about the other guys "Oh Naruto is so shit!!! hur dur" it's just my opinian you can take it or leave it.
Yep, if you liked Code Geass you will love Death note, some other i'v been watching/started on lately:

I don't know. Death note sounds really really dark and gory. Is the plot exactly as the name suggests?

Arakawa under the Bridge, hilarious anime about a guy who gets saved by a homeless woman and as repayment is forced to live with her and her unusual friends

Durarara! Amazing anime, it ends in two or three weeks so you can probably do a whole run through of it aswell, it's from the same people as Baccano! so it's a must-watch
Ohhh yeaahh, I heard about this one from a friend. I heard its really good. Never heard of Baccano! though.

Fairy Tail despite the name, it's one of my favourite animes currently airing, typical shonen but I love it
Shonen? Is that a genre?
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood you definitely need to watch this sometime, I would advise watching this before the original show as this one is much better
I already watched the old show. I'm already reading the maga, so I dont think I'll watch it.
Katanagatari, airs monthly but it's great, I love the art style aswell
The artstyle looks really interesting. I'll give it a go.
Senkou no Night Raid too awesome to explain

these are just a few, I have way too many to list, if you like these check out some more that i'v watched in my MAL ;)
That Rubedo guy's a real hater.....

Anyway I would recommend (as mentioned before) full metal alchemist brotherhood. Personally don't think you need to watch the first one but t would be god to. So just watch full metal alchemist and then watch full metal alchemist brotherhood, you will NOT be disappointed.

I wish more people would suggest non-popular stuff. It's easy to find out what's popular, so suggest some hidden gems instead.
Having everyone suggest the same popular stuff and having that stuff be on top 10 lists all over the internet is kind of useless.

Here's a few other lesser known anime that I'd personally suggest.
PlanetES
Mushishi (@Rubedo: If you liked Kino's Journey you'll probably like this)
Last Exile
Karas (6 episode OVA)

And here's a few hit and miss depending on taste.
GaoGaiGar (Starts off slow, monster of the week style. You can pretty much safely skip the first 20 episodes, but boy does it pick up. It's a Super Robot show though so not for everyone)
GaoGaiGar FINAL (OVA followup to GaoGaiGar)
Tekkaman Blade (This is pretty old and you'll definitely notice it's age, but the story is great and might even leave you depressed. It's a...Power Armor show like Kamen Rider and such, but has a much more serious and darker tone.)

----------------------

As an aside, though I don't agree with Rubedo's tone I understand his frustration. The same things get suggested over and over, people end up stuck in a bubble of sorts, never leaving to find anything unique or different.
There are a LOT of different kinds of anime out there and yet the same handful always get suggested.
I mean, sure, those tend to be alright too, but you can just as easily Google a must watch list or something and get the same suggestions.

What is with people and shooting down series like Death Note and Code Geass... They're popular for a reason! Now I don't intend to bash your list, as I've watched a few of them as well and enjoyed it, but a lot of them aren't targeted to just anyone.
Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, etc have a certain degree of action, and (I generalize here) people have different tastes in the world, and I'm fairly certain most people who speak English like action or at least a certain degree of action in their films. I think it's a cultural thing because we see big blockbuster Hollywood movies and every trailer seems to have some sort of fight scene and the epic battles are the ones that are remembered.

Do you really believe the average teenager is interested in Kino's Journey or Clannad? Most of the movies you listed are fantastic in terms of production value, but did Spirited Away or My Neighbour Totoro really keep you on the edge of your seat? The guy started the post with how he loves Code Geass, clearly he's looking at a certain genre...
Death Note's first half was awesome. After you-know-what happens, the series completely tanks in quality. Likewise, Code Geass season 1 was incredible, and season 2 was crap.
But the rest of your argument is moronic.
I like action as much as the next guy - I recommended Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Black Lagoon and Baccano! after all, but to say that "most people" or "most teenagers" only want action makes you look like a fucking idiot.

Maybe when you're older you'll realize that Naruto is bottom of the barrel shounen shit.
Hell, if you want to watch generic shounen, at least watch GOOD generic shounen like One Piece or read the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Black Cat manga.
