It's been almost a year since I joined this website and I'm writing something now because I know I'll probably forget to do it when the actual day rolls around.
A year ago, I used my super sleuthing powers to eavesdrop on a conversation between my bf and his roommate.
"So how's that gbatemp website doing?"
Hmm, Gbatemp...., I thought to myself.
Later, my internet search history would be filled with terms such as Pbakemp, TbaPimp, and gaming website for zelda lovers. Did I mention my super sleuthing powers? I found this website only a few hours later, a feat which would have taken innumerable seconds for any mere mortal with average short term memory ability.
Truth be told, I was never really into video games -- that is until grad school. They say education is transformative but all a master's did was force me to find new ways of procrastination, this time in the form of steam sales and creeping on boys in a relationship with me. My original reasons for joining here weren't completely kosher (let's be honest to ourselves cauli, they were pretty off the rails crazy) but in the year I've been here, I've grown fond of this place. I love the open but respectful dialogue (good work, mods), I love the huge scope of discussion topics, I love reading reviews of new games and looking at memes of old ones. I love the community, the people and the art and the random stories and the inside jokes. I̶ ̶l̶o̶v̶e̶ ̶u̶s̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶e̶a̶r̶c̶h̶ ̶f̶u̶n̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶m̶a̶g̶i̶c̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶k̶n̶o̶w̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶S̶O̶s̶ ̶h̶o̶b̶b̶i̶e̶s̶. I practically live in the edge of the forum.
2020 kinda really super sucked but gbatemp was always a source of friendly faces and quick laughs. Happy early cake day to me. Never change, Gibatimp, never change.
