I built a new computer.

Now that I've finished a recent job building a computer for someone, it's time for me to enjoy my own new machine.
Here's the final build:

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - WEI 7.4

CPU Temp Average ~ 28-31 Celsius (idle) / 38-41 Celsius (max load)

I'm crazy about it cause it's working so swell. I made this post pretty much for my own reference.

edit: After using this sytem for about a week now I've reverted it back to stock/auto settings while doing research about other methods of overclocking than just multiplier alone. I've also got to add that this computer is insanely fucking heavy (partly due to the PSU I chose being 6 damned pounds) and that is my only complaint about it in the end.

edit2: I will probably be able to improve this system a bit just by replacing some old cables. I've changed my OC to FSB overclock and it's way stable now. But I won't be able to follow up until Oct 9th most likely. God I wish this machine were easier to transport, I'd be bringing it back to Texas with me if I could figure out a way.

Please get the Windows Experience Shitdex out of here.

mejelly, that CPU is only slightly better than my Athlon dualcore @ 2.8 GHz...

niiiiiiice! it's fun right? I built my first computer earlier this year, you learn a lot and it's so satisfying :D <3 it's my baby <3

God that case is ugly. Just my 2 cents :P

How much did it cost in total?
I agree building a PC is fun, but I find it more tense than fun actually! If you fuck something up you're screwed!

For the most part there's not much to screw up, but applying the thermal paste and locking on the heatsink/fan is indeed always pretty damn tense.

How is a Hexacore at 3.6 GHz only slightly better than... or are you being sarcastic?
I posted the WEI because very few people even know what's good on the scale of a real benchmark like 3dmark or Cinebench.

I've been into PC maintenance since my early teens in the late 90s and been building AMD-based PC's off and on as a hobby since 2003.
I've just had too little income to do a high-ish end rig since around 2004. I actually joined OverclockersClub back then.

All of the new parts of this build were my payment for building an Intel Core i7-2600K system for a retired doctor, but altogether they are over a grand.

The case is freakish but EXTREMELY easy to build in and keeps my things very cool. I really needed one easy to work in this time around and this case also has built in handles that fold down. I really like that cause the new PSU is ridiculously heavy compared to my old (less efficient) 750w that I used towards my client's build.

That Zalman cooler was no easy task I tell ya. I got it after my CPU was reaching temps of 58c max load with stock cooling which is intolerable for stock settings. With the new HSF it tops out at 41 with the overclock <3
